He stared him softly in the eyes, unmoving, both of them too shocked to really say anything in the first moment, but then his hand was reaching out for the Doctor's, his fingertips lightly grazing until he gently clasped them together, his thumb making soothing circles on the back of the Doctor's hand.

"You don't know how long I've waited for this," he said, the nameless one, the newer yet broken Doctor.

He had been stuck there for nearly a year, trying to devote his life to a woman who was lying to herself, over and over. Everyone thought that they would have their happy ending, but the truth was, he wasn't the Doctor, not all of him, really, he was the hybrid, lonelier than the first, because unlike the Doctor, he - didn't have someone who loved him in return. It was something that was eating away at him for those eleven months, breaking him down until he felt like he could barely breathe anymore, like his one heart had suddenly stopped working - he felt human, more human than he ever thought was possible.

He remembered pain, the feeling of the shared loss of their home world, the lives that were lost, friends and family - but were they really his? He was an echo, not like their daughter, who had been pure. He was something entirely different. Was he just a hand? Just a severed soul? Could he even have a soul? He shuddered to think. These weren't normal things to think about, but without space and time to keep him busy, he couldn't do anything but wither away and hope for something better. Hope for a reason to keep going.

"Doctor..." he whispered, finding his voice again as they continued to look at the other. The Doctor apparently was momentarily stunned, staring at his human self as they stood inside the TARDIS. He hadn't known what had happened, he had suddenly just... appeared.

"... You left me in a world I didn't belong to," he breathed, his thumb still circling, still caressing in careful strokes, as if the Time Lord was somehow fragile to the touch - he didn't want him to wither away too, he didn't want to lose it all again. "So many times... so many times I almost gave up. You're the reason, you know," he said softly, and he lifted up his other hand and stroked the Doctor's cheek with his knuckles, "My one heart... it only beats for one," he muttered, feeling his throat start to constrict, with each word it felt even harder to say, like needles were poking and prodding, trying to rise out of his throat. It was painful.

"... Can't you feel it? Can't you see it? I know you can, Doctor... because I feel it all around us," he said, and he could - it was a strange sort of energy, making him feel light headed and buzzed, the closer he was, the stronger this pleasant feeling grew. He craved more. "It's because I am apart of you, I know how you work... you can't hide from me." he said, and he didn't mean for it to sound possessive even when it did, but the Doctor knew that, and he did feel it. The Doctor could feel him.

"How can you not know this? The TARDIS knew - she could feel me, as I do with you. You're so blind to what's in front of you... she brought me to you, because we need each other, Doctor." he said, and somehow without the Doctor really noticing, he had come closer, and the Doctor could feel his breath on his lips. "I need you, Doctor..." he said, his eyes displaying nothing but honesty and sincerity, innocence with every plea.

"... I will never hurt you, I will never break you," he gave promises, locking each word with something hidden, and the Doctor knew he was telling the truth. "... I am the only one who will never leave you." he said, barely above a whisper and he finally closed his eyes, his lips falling upon the Doctor's.

He kissed him with such urgency, such emotion that he felt as though his knees would tremble, but he couldn't, he had to be strong, strong enough to get his point across, to reassure the Doctor that he didn't have to be alone. He wrapped his arms around the Doctor's neck and pulled him in closer to his body, and even through the layers, the Doctor could feel his lone heart beating wildly, so very human.

He's so fragile, the Doctor thought, his hands moving up to hold onto the other man's waist, gripping at the material, and with just as much emotion as his counterpart had shown, he began kissing him back feverishly, the buzzing in their heads never ceasing, causing trembles of pleasure wrack through them, sending shivers along their spines.

Finally breaking apart, the Doctor gasped for air, his body taking on a much newer form of exhaustion - well, this was going to be an interesting night, the Doctor thought happily as he grabbed the other and forced him into one of the ship's many rooms, wanting nothing more than to experiment with this new found energy.

THE END

Tell me what you thought! By the way, it was quickly written, and unbeta'd, and I haven't written anything for quite awhile. -headdesk- ... the damned bunny was way too persistent and impatient.
