[When the device clicks on there is some silence muddled by the background noise of the forest at night, albeit a presently uneventful corner of it. Well, sort of. Then there is a breath, not quite a sigh or anything so quickly named, but a sound that can amount to a combination of distaste and upset.]There ought to be a law of some kind against ( Read more... )

[But she backtracks, a little, knowing it's not his fault this has happened.]

I'm heading toward there now. Stay on the device so I can find you?

[ Because when Yvaine is in distress, this Tristan can't help but come to the rescue. ]

A unicorn?

Well that seems rather dramatic.

I'm still sorry you had to find it. Killing a unicorn's considered a crime in my world. That's awful.

What world is that?

Well...there are laws against killing protected species where I come from.

I'm glad to hear that.

I'm sorry there's nothing really established here. Dead unicorn's a fucked up sight. Was it for sport or something?

[A pause, because she doesn't recognize....one of those words BUT she gets the general gist by his tone, and agrees completely, so the pause isn't that long!]

I believe it was. Only his horn was missing.

He was shot, and his throat---

[Longer pause...]

But you don't need to apologize...it wasn't your fault.
