I wonder if it means anything -- that in one world a star is nothing but a distant fire, while in another stars no longer even exist, and in yet another stars look like what most know to be humans, give or take a brighter or dimmer glow. They converse, sing even, and they watch history as far-away witnesses who need not write any of it down because ( Read more... )

Anything in the area of this topic always makes me feel pretty small and insignificant in the grand scheme of things.

Compared to an entire world each one of us is certainly small, though I wouldn't say 'insignificant' exactly.

The suitable alternative to guessing, I suppose, would be to gather information. If you're looking for a study on different worlds, you have a rather large sample to draw from.

There aren't many, if any other stars that I can find.

But I've been gathering from reading when nothing else makes itself available.

Ah, that would be the catch.

Find anything interesting?

Quite a few things, but ultimately it all sounds more like speculation than firsthand accounts of something someone has experienced or seen.

It would be a heavy burden for the actions done in one world to reflect in another.

Very, especially considering that one could do nothing particularly wrong for their world and still cause damage to another.

Or do something right... for an unknown price.

Your stars sing?

For as long as we have existed, which is longer than even the oldest of us can remember clearly.

I wish I could hear them sing. I imagine them singing sometimes.

What do you imagine they sound like?

Do you think it means anything, if people in one world imagine it might be different?

There are stories about stars, where I'm from, even if the stars aren't... the same, you know.

I think that it could very well mean something, but I'm not sure what that thing would be. It could be different, depending on what is imagined and what it's about, I guess.

...what sorts of stories?

Oh, well... There are constellations? The way the stars look in the sky, we make shapes out of them and tell stories about those. And, I think some individual stars too, have stories. Usually stories about how people became stars but... well, it's a little similar?

People...who became stars. [ she doesn't mean to parrot it back but that's what happens, an almost careful quality to the echo though ] I suppose if I go looking for such a story the library may keep it from me on purpose.
