WEAPON OF CHOICE: While she can use a few, mostly martial arts weapons, she chooses not to use any in a fight. Punching or kicking something is more her style. If she needs a weapon she picks up some heavy-weighted gloves to keep her hands safe when she hits someone in the jaw.
PERSONALITY: The super happy personality she displayed while a pop star is almost all gone, allowing the negative personality from her childhood to re-emerge. To Faina the glass is not only half empty but it also has a dent in it. Now whether she put that there by mishandling or if the dishwasher is to blame is a different story.
Caring is something that Faina does little of, for the most part she seems kind of bored with everything. Anyone who guesses as much is probably right too. She realizes that she's getting older and there are things that just wont happen for her. Marriage is one of them. After losing her dream of being a ballerina and later being unable to lead her singing career where she wanted she's realized that what she cares to do rarely happens. One too many dreams have been crushed and she's grown tired of trying. The monotony of her daily life has left her bored.
When she doesn’t seem bored with things she tends to be annoyed since a lot of things don’t settle well with her. She's really sensitive to stupidity and actually believes there is such a thing as a stupid question. However she knows better than to say as much. Since she's afraid of being too negative and thus losing her job she tends to instead get frustrated when incidents like that happen and keep her mouth shut, which just makes her more frustrated. Occasionally she'll explode in a fit of anger because she hasn't voiced minor annoyances earlier. When it comes to talking though, her sarcasm is about as thick as her Russian accent. She has a lovely voice but rarely does she have anything nice to say. Towards most people she is quite unfriendly.
There are two groups of people that she's friendly towards; the ballet club that she was transferred to the school to coach and her mother's family. These two groups also happen to be the only people she cares about. Towards those who are in the ballet club she opens up and actually seriously laughs and smiles. Most of the sarcasm is gone and while she expects them to work hard she does commend them when they do a good job. A smaller group is something she can handle better and teaching something she loves to do is something she enjoys. With her mother and her new family she's the most relaxed. Her half-siblings are probably the only children she enjoys teaching academics to and she enjoys just chatting with her mother. Surprisingly she’s friendly towards her step-father, who wonders when she’s getting married. Even though he didn't do much to raise her in her mind she's replaced her birth father with him. Towards her birth father and brothers she doesn’t change her personality. She was able to forgive her mother, since she felt her father's influence was to blame. But she's still bitter towards her father and brothers since she can’t find herself able to forgive them. Maybe if her brothers talked to her more she would forgive them but her father is probably never being let back into her life.
BACKGROUND: Faina was born all the way in Minsk, the capital of Belarus. Her father had been born and raised there and her mother had moved to the country from Russia to be a young bride. The two couldn’t agree on anything and yet they still got married. No one expected the relationship to last long but they had five children, the youngest being a girl born on the 17th of February. They named her ‘Faina’ meaning ‘shining’. Her birth was not the result of two people in love, but rather an act of desperation. The couple had been struggling to get along and decided that another child might be able to bring them back together.
That didn’t work and instead they were pushed further apart than before. The young child thought she could find comfort with her older brothers but they mostly pushed her away, blaming her for being the final wedge between their parents. She was the only girl and grew up trying to prove that she was just as good as her brothers, but her father was never be satisfied with what she did. All he wanted her to be was a quiet girl who could marry rich and bring the family fame. Faina was jealous of her brothers who were expected to gain fame through their own merits.
Early in the marriage her parents had decided that her mother would be the one to take care of the children while the father worked. Faina’s mother got sick of her and started to leave her in the care of anyone who would watch her. When the girl begged for her mother’s attention she was hit. Because of this she grew up to be a very independent and negative child. Around when Faina was ten her mother started to grow tired of this “family”. Just like Faina could never do anything to please her father, her mother was also unable to make him happy. Because of this her parents’ arguments escalated into physical fights. Then when her father lost his job he was always looking for a fight. Sometimes her mother was unable to provide that and he turned to Faina. When he decided to raise his hand against her he always complained that she didn’t do well enough in school. At one point she told her mother, who didn’t believe her and instead turned against her. The next day she was unable to go to school. From then on she quietly took the abuse from her father.
She decided that the problems were her fault and tried to fix them, and she concentrated extra hard in school and worked to become everything from an honors student to class president. At the same time she picked up a bunch of activities, various styles of martial arts, ballet and she even joined a swim team. Faina hoped that by excelling in so many areas would make her amazing in either parent’s eyes. Unfortunately this did nothing. It did keep her out of the house a lot though.
At eleven, when some girls her age were hitting puberty, she was no where near and her mother decided to leave her father. Considering the woman couldn’t stand her, it was surprising that she’d take the girl with her when she went back to her family in Russia. One day her mother picked her up from school and instead of driving her home she drove to the airport. The next morning she arrived in her mother’s hometown, never to return to her birthplace. For a while Faina and her mother got along, but then the woman met another man online. Instantly she became infatuated with this man and once again her daughter was put on the back burner. Faina didn’t care and resumed her independent routine but wondered why her mother decided to take her. When she asked she received no response. The girl soon came to realize that outside of her father’s influence her mother was a lot nicer.
While in Russia she took the chance to enroll in a ballet school, she’d enjoyed the activity while in Belarus and had been quite good. The school she auditioned for was well noted but not one of the most famous ones. It had enough fame though to be hard to get into though. Faina beat the odds and was accepted, though she had to take on extra classes in order to catch up with the other students. It was something she enjoyed doing so she worked hard. At school she fit in well the other students and in her years of attendance she managed to land a few lead rolls in quite a few performances. Before she was withdrawn from the school she had gained some fame as a ballerina in Russia. When her mother first talked about withdrawing her and moving to Japan Faina was adamantly against it. She begged her mother to let her move into the dorms but was told to instead quickly learn Japanese. Faina’s teachers weren’t fond of her leaving and also tried convincing her mother otherwise but the woman’s decision would not be changed. She sadly said farewell to everyone at the school and soon enough was on a plane to Japan. Before that her last attempt to stay had been to refuse learning Japanese.
Faina turned fourteen in Japan. The sudden culture change surprised her but she adjusted to it. For a while there was a language barrier, which frustrated her quite a bit. She thought that if she couldn’t speak the language her mother would have no choice but to move back and abandon the boyfriend she’d moved for. However they instead got engaged and Faina was a social outcast at school. Ultimately she gave up on that and learned Japanese from her mother. The two soon reconciled over the argument of their living arrangements and Faina gave her blessings to the marriage. Her mother had a few more children by her second husband and Faina enjoyed helping them with their homework.
By now her mother was wondering why she hadn’t hit puberty and developed like others her age had. When taken to doctors they just informed her mother that she was ‘a late bloomer’. The other problem was that she still looked rather young, but that was excused with the same reason. The fact that she was a ballerina was the other explanation from doctors as to why her growth was so off. In Japan Faina was unable to continue ballet, there was no school where she lived, so she became kind of depressed. Even though she had learned Japanese, she was still unable to connect with her peers.
The talk of the school at the time was that Good Morning! Project, the well known idol company, was holding open auditions in town. On a whim Faina decided to try out, but since she was afraid her blonde hair was the cause of her lack of friends she first died it green. She auditioned and in the end was asked to join. She was put in the group ‘W♥NDERL★ND’ as one of the founding members, the other was a younger girl who went by Ran Ravu♥Ravu. The total number of girls quickly grew to ten as more girls were found. For as long as the group was in existence the number of members hovered between nine and ten. Traditionally each chose a nick name that utilized one of the characters of the group name. Because of her name’s meaning she chose ★. Faina was thrilled with the idol routine, and her mother decided to let her fully pursue this passion instead of preventing her from going after yet another dream.
On her fifteenth birthday she was added to the company’s main group ‘Hello Musume’. She didn’t leave ‘W♥NDERL★ND’ and chose to instead devote her time to both of them. While becoming famous made her popular in high school, she left schooling in the public eye and instead had tutors. Her life became a delicate balance between her life as an idol and her school work; she was left with very little time for recreation. While in Good Morning! Project she released quite a few CDs under multiple groups and as a solo artist. When she got older though she had to drop almost all the groups she was in so she could also go to college. At twenty-one she graduated from the program and decided to take a break from singing to go to college. When she graduated she announced that her intention was to later return and resume her idol career but she never actually did that. In fact, she never wanted to. Faina had gotten sick of singing pop songs and wanted to try some other genres or maybe even her own compositions. In short, she felt that she was being creatively stunted working with Good Morning! Project. With her departure and returning to visit her mother she realized that that wasn’t the only thing stunted.
At twenty-one Faina realized that she still hadn’t hit puberty and still looked ridiculously young. On top of that she was four-foot-eight-inches. In all those years she’d only grown an inch. It was quite a concern and she returned to asking medical professionals for answers. Since she was beyond the age when being ‘a late bloomer’ was a valid answer tests were done. What they discovered was a little-known syndrome paired with something else. They could tell her what that something else was but whatever it was left her stuck with a basically un-aging twelveish-year-old’s body. There wasn’t anything she could do to treat these conditions and so she just had to do what she’d always done; keep moving forward. Her mother felt horrible for not realizing sooner but Faina didn’t blame her.
Unfortunately she was much too small to return to a professional ballet career and finding a career singing something other than pop was impossible. Since she still looked young she was ideal for sugar pop, what she wanted to do the least. With nothing else to do besides drift from the public eye and work hard in college she decided to become a teacher. After all she’d enjoyed helping her half-siblings with their homework. Because of her age she realized that she had a unique opportunity, if she got the right class she could blend in with the students and maybe connect with them better. While in college Faina returned to martial arts by enrolling in relevant clubs.
However when she later graduated and started to teach her first class on her own she found that the students didn’t listen to her because of how old she looked. Faina grew frustrated and stopped caring about her students. If they tried to connect and be friends with her she’d put forth minimal effort, if they friended her on social networking sites she’d friend them back but she didn’t go out of her way to befriend them.
Eventually she found herself transferred into the Ratiou school system. She didn’t care and just left earlier to find a nice apartment to live in. Faina did invite her mother and her family to move to this city with her though. Around the time she moved in a letter from her father finally caught up with her. The girl was not amused by her father’s attempt to reconcile and wound up ignoring him.
