Perphaps Paul could overhear Ash recapping his match with candice and be shocked when she uses her Platinum team. He could also catch a water type along the way, as he desperately needs one.

For conway's sixth, perphaps a ghost type like dusknoir or gengar, or perphaps something unexpected like a flygon or weezing.

Super-belated response time!

Candice with her Platinum team would be neat, but I can't find a reason why she would suddenly change her team like that; the anime has been pretty stiff keeping the Gym Leaders with their D/P teams only. Just a minor detail, anyway. I agree Paul really would benefit from a Water-type, but I see him as a guy who's too impatient to go fishing, hence he very rarely comes across a Water-type that suits him. Really, all I can picture him with is a Gyarados or Feraligatr. Canon might dictate some team changes come the League, so I'm keeping my eye on that.

As for Conway... lol. I'll have him catching a lot just so I won't screw myself over when he appears in the League, but he's definitely got a phobia of Dusknoir due to what happened in the Summer School episodes. So he won't want that. XD The other three are fair game; Conway's going to be doing a lot of catching down the road.

You could either do what did with maylene, or you could say that she mixes her team up so that trainers won't have exact stratergies based on what they had heard from other trainers.

Give paul a milotic lol jks. Really though maybe he could catch an already strong quagsire.

I reaaaally like the way you're putting things together. And when i'm watching the anime, I always forget this is just a story, and not the real stuff.
The story sure took another road than that I expected, I really didn't see the terminal disease thing coming. Well, after ep 11 I did a little, but it was still quite shocking. XD
And I had to laugh, I love it when a character like paul has to suffer a lot. :'D

Good work, everything seems to be nicely planned and in order. I'm wondering how you're planning to separate Paul and Conway for DP163 - though Paul wasn't with the gang for any length of time...for all we know Conway could've slept in at the hotel or whatever they were staying at. Though I'm wondering how you're going to fit in the whole "grandparents" thing... from what I've seen, you update about every 2 months. It'll take you forever to finish this fic...but every step is nicely written, so I'll be there every step of the way.

By the way, have you seen DP 163?

just one question, in dp 155 paul made a cameo, where is revealed his last badge was the badge from byron... Are you going to ignore this cameo or do you have a solution for this tiny problem?

I already figured out how to handle that little discrepancy. Really, I subtly started that plot point at the end of Chapter 11 with Rhonda. She'll be researching the Pyramid King's son and realizes that'll rake in the ratings. So while Paul and Conway return to Canalave so Conway can get a Mine Badge, Rhonda notices them just as they're leaving, assumes it was Paul who just had the gym battle, and drags him over for an interview.

And Paul just runs with it because Conway can't risk being shown on TV with Saturn up and about (though by this point Team Galactic was taken down by Ash & Co., but Conway likely doesn't know about that yet). Really, I figure it's an awkward situation because I can't see Paul willingly volunteering to be on TV just to say he has 8 badges. It was really weird, so that's my twist on it to make it weirder!
