A/N: Um... I don't know. I'm in a depressing mood right now. I have writer's block.
A wise person I love once said,
"Nature is all about balance but humans aren't so..."

“Would you have killed him?” Hankyung asks.

There’s still blood on Siwon’s knuckles, and it’s dripping on the cushion seats of the principal’s office.

“Yes.”

“Would you kill me?” Heechul asks, coming seemingly out of nowhere.

“Of course not,” Siwon says, because it’s obvious. I would kill for you, but I would not kill you.

“Hm,” is all Heechul says as he walks away.

--

Heechul has his eyes shut, hands gripping the chains on the swing. It’s a beautiful day, almost a little too beautiful.

“What are you thinking?” Hankyung asks as he gives Heechul another push.

His eyes remain shut. “I don’t know. I can’t quite fathom it into words.”

“Let me know when you can,” Hankyung says quietly. “Put a pen in your hand again.”

Heechul lets his feet drag on the ground, stopping the swing. He turns around to look Hankyung in the eye for the first time all day, and his eyes are like a map to the stars that Hankyung will never be able to read. “It’s because I’m broken, isn’t it?” he asks, with such innocence that it makes Hankyung want to break down and cry.

“No,” he answers, trying to memorize every single star in the billions of swirling galaxies. “No, that’s not it at all.”

“There must be a reason,” Heechul whispers, and it looks as though he’s really thinking about it, really trying to figure it out.

“There’s no rhyme or reason to a damaged mind,” Hankyung says, hoping that’s enough.

“Do you see the trees?” Heechul suddenly asks. He points to one off in the distance. “You can see, they’re budding.”

“They’re beautiful,” Hankyung says, resting his chin on Heechul’s shoulder. “They remind me of you.”

--
“I’ll kill him,” Siwon said, looking more enraged then Heechul had ever seen anyone in his life. “I swear to god I’ll kill him, Heechul.”

“Siwon,” Heechul whimpered, hands gripping his head, pulling at his hair, knees pulled up to his chest. “Just stop, please…”

“I can make it look like an accident,” he continued, pacing back and forth. “I don’t care if I go to jail, the system’s corrupt.”

Heechul shook.

“Write about it, Heechul,” he said, almost begged. “Write about it and tell everyone, maybe everyone will --.”

“Siwon!” Heechul practically screamed, eyes screwed shut like he was in unbearable pain. “Stop!”

Siwon blinked, and came back to reality.

--

Heechul knows it to be a dream, but he can practically feel the warm wind blowing on his cheeks, the pink petals from the trees on his feet. Everything around him is dead, except for the small circle where he stands.

He’s still in his hospital gown.

It’s beautiful, his circle. He hears birds chirping and sees the wind rustling the leaves, but he can’t enjoy it for fear that the death around him will soon consume his small paradise. It’s no way to live, being constantly on edge.

Yet, he sees the birds flapping freely, looking so blissfully ignorant that his heart burns with jealousy. They do not know time, they do not know fear of the future, they only know the vast blue skies above them. They know nothing of the day before.

Heechul decides that in his next life, he wants to be a bird.

--

“Don’t you see?” Heechul asks, his swing coming to a slow stop. “The trees, they’re still in bloom.”

“Yeah?” Hankyung says, squinting against the sunlight.

“So why aren’t we?” Heechul kicks a stick nearby. “If they can, why can’t we?”

“We can bloom, too,” Hankyung says, reaching out to hold Heechul’s hand, taking note of the fact that it’s shaking slightly. “We can start now.”

“And when we fall, we fall together,” Heechul says.

“Then next spring, we bloom again.”
