i did have a really rough layout of my next project done, and had it more... organized, than before. i did figure out some of the tricky things with the code base to do unorthadox things

then, i started going through all of the level design job postings i could find, and realized that they ALL (literally, all) referenced unreal engine experience...

so, im gonna dive into this thing, again, and try to get a better handle on it than i did last time.. i quit learning it about a couple years ago since i didnt like unreal tournament, half life 2 and left 4 dead were more fun, so i figured id learn to make stuff with that. unfortunately, only valve uses their own engine, and while learning it does cultivate some soft skills that are transferable, there's not a lot of concrete stuff i could contribute on day one of a theoretical job using unreal

plus the user community is way bigger, so it would be easier finding tutorials n junk for it. the udk is small enough to install on my work computer without much fuss... ultimately id really like to learn kismet scripting inside and out, but im gonna start at the very beginning even though it'll mostly be a refresher on stuff that i just havent used in a long time, it probably won't hurt to get the workflow down faster
