I didn't have access to the true files until recently. Everything they showed me earlier was a forgery.

If I'd known the truth from the first moment I asked, there probably wouldn't have been a risk of me going insane.

Don't say that too loudly, or someone somewhere might get the idea to get the fandom together and shower you with daily presents or other assorted weirdness. I rather like you in your present state - sane.
