He didn't. Not ever.
Golden eyes hardening, he grabbed Sasame's shoulder before he could even walk a step, and spun him back around. "Just what do you think you're doing?" Kei's face was expressionless under the bright bangs, but there was a bite of ice in his voice. "Do you realize what you're doing to the Knights? Do you? Do you realize the price of your pride, Sasame?"
No matter what happened, he was not letting Sasame walk away from this one. Denial could only go so far; stubbornness could only go so far.

inhale, exhale…repeat.
Kei must've been waited for him to speak...
Sasame balled up his fist in an unusual display of emotions. Finally lifting his head so Kei could see the anxiety and frustration he had brought upon him, he stared hard at his accuser and fired back with his defense.
“Do you think this is easy on me? To have to spend endless days and nights holed up from them? I yearn for the companionship I once shared with Hayate, but that can never happen Kei! I turned my back on him, after swearing a pledge to protect leafe, to protect you, to protect Hayate, to protect the Pretear… I turned my back on everyone! Just for a silly notion to be a Knight in Shining armor, when all I needed was to show compassion-what I do everyday at work during Wordsgate!”

His eyes were like two chips of molten ice as he glared back at Sasame.
"So you failed once, and you've given up? Just because you could not fulfill your vows once, you have decided to turn your back on them?" he hissed. "Just what kind of Knight are you ( ... )

What was the Pretear without her ears? Probably better off without me…Sasame frowned at his own thoughts. When had his heart turned so cold? Was it before Takako, before she had turned into Fenrir? Was it when Hayate met Himeno and his reaction to the bright life within her ( ... )

He could see the conflict in Sasame's violet eyes like a gathering storm, before the other put his fingers to his lips in a gesture so familiar it made Kei's heart leap, for just a moment, before settling effortlessly back to its stoic self--and then came the sound arrow, as he'd known it would, as Sasame had needed to know it would.
He smiled wryly at the other Knight's astonishment. "What do you think? The powers of the White Pretear can work miracles unheard of... You were the Leafe Knight of Sound, and so you are still. I hope you understand that now, Sasame."
