I read a lot myself - politics student - but you've got to mix intellectualism with activism if you want to make sure your theory has grass roots. Often whilst campaigning I meet individuals who have a philosophy but can't relate it to the masses, and just end up criticising every other campaigning group.

Social and activist, yes.
STAND (Darfur), which I haven't done since school ended this summer.
I also do research on genocides, specifically the Armenian, and study the relationships of power and interests within states and society.

I've done some social activism, but definetely not enough.
How do you find the time/energy to do it as much as you'd like to?
