i totally understand what you mean. I always get so irritated when they mess up little scenes like that. I really want to see that movie, it sounds really good.
You really should see it!! Especially if you haven't seen/heard/read it before, it's a great opportunity. I just saw it a second time... and I liked it even more. It's just amazing. GO!
Phantom is your favorite musical?! Oh, Aavis, I've got the soundtrack and I've always adored it (especially the magnus opus "All I Ask of You!") Of course "Evita" is #1 with me since it tells such an inspirational story (sleeping one's way to the top :-D) but Phantom would have to be #2. Oh, Sir Andrew is such a God.
Yeah, so I've been dying to see the movie since, I've heard it but not seen it. Anyway I'll probably not be disappointed, whatever version you see originally seems to be the best version (although from the sound bites I've downloaded of the movie, the Raoul *sounds* a bit... weak.) And as for Christine, she could be fabulous, but Sarah Brighton fricking owns that role (the musical was written with her in mind, n'est-ce pas?)
I can't believe I have stuff in common with you! I feel so classy.
hmm... I really don't think you should be feeling classy.
All the songs are good (UNLIKE JC, marisca!), but I'd have to say I like "The Music of the Night", "The Point of No Return", the end of "Wishing you were...", and, of course, "The Phantom of the Opera" best... and I know that's about half of them...
You really should see the movie!! I can't bring myself to hold a grudge against it. As for the voices, they did have to change one of Christine's parts slightly - I would guess because it's out of her range. Sarah kicked her ass there, but her voice is still good. And yeah, Raoul's voice was somewhat disappointing. I think his voice was higher than I'm used to, and it lacks a certain richness of tone. The timbre doesn't seem right. But the phantom was awesome, and that's what really matters. (I still prefer Michael Crawford in some ways, though...).
