dicky0224 and I have been talking about the meetup. We feel that both of the options for the meetup shouldn't be just for the 21+ croud. Anyone under 21 cannot get into the two meetup locations. The best bet for the next meetup would be a coffee shop somewhere downtown so that anyone can come since no one likes to be ruled out ( Read more... )

Some input to my prior post...

I think that the meetup should be in more of a community setting other than a club in the first place, I loved the idea of having it at a pizza place or at a park, two free and excelent areas to get to know people... At the park people could bring anything up to frisbees but we'd hvae to worry about this 90 degree weather...

My sugguestions are possibly a bookstore, maybee just meet up at Pioneer Place Mall in the foodcourt (its rather large and could accomidate us).

Just some input.

If you go back in this community, you'll see we had the same sentiments, and several of us submitted alternate locations to Meetup. They didn't get used this time around.

I'm not sure a coffee shop could hold as many people as we ultimately had interested in the Portland meetup - but if they split it up by where there's interest, it wouldn't hurt. I think most of us here were thinking parks, from the sound of it.

If you know more locations to suggest to them - please do! We want as many choices as we can get, preferably ones that come from the community. Unfortunately these were chosen by the people who made the site and, honestly, it doesn't look like they even tried to take the varying interests and age ranges into account at all.

Yeh I think that the creators of the shop didn't take into the account that everyone would most likely either A. be drinking, b. not going because of age requirements, or c. being bored because everyone else is drinking.

I think that it should be either at a park (in cooler weather) or at a coffeeshop or bookstore (in warmer weather) since a lot of people wanted to go but can't make it unless they have a fake id it seems that a lot of people who were interested aren't even going to bother with it.

Definitely. And some of the forested parks would do okay in warmer weather. It would be good to have choices that included coffee shops for people with allergies worse than mine, though - parks are moderately lousy for that. *wry grin*

I think they've heard us. I'm just waiting to see if they do something about next month's choices.
