Yay! I'm glad. :) I really wanted to be able to understand Remus even though we were getting it through Dora's eyes. Thanks for letting me know you liked it. :)
The silence that falls between them is crushing her to death. She feels like she's been slapped. She steps backwards, wrenching herself out of his grip. His face is white and there are tears gleaming in his eyes.
I love it all, this part especially. It's exactly something he all but says in the book -- He thinks he's being honorable by insisting that she deserves better, but all he's actually doing is insulting Tonks in the worst way possible. Gah.
Yeah, isn't that the way it always goes, its the people we love the most that we are able to would the easiest. There's just no getting around the fact that what Remus is doing to Dora is really awful and hurtful, but I rather felt that she can give as good as she gets even though she'd never mean to. I wondered if, when Harry called Remus a coward it made him react so strongly because its a word that had been rattling around in his head since he left her (actualy that's a lot of what part 2 is about).
Good grief, you didn't need to know all that...sorry. :) Thank you so much for letting me know you liked it!
...if, as you put it, have struggled to write this, than your struggle was definitely worth the result :-) I really enjoyed it and am eagerly awaiting part 2!
Thank you! I had no idea I was going to have such a hard time getting this thing written. I guess the hardest part was keeping both of them in character while at the same time taking both of them to emotional extremes. The more I thought about the scene and re-read Remus' words to the trio in chapter 11 the more I realized what a horrible horrible thing was happening in his life

I feel so sorry for Tonks, but you did an excellent job in establishing Remus' behaviour and emotional status that we saw in the book.
Fantastic job! :D
God, that was so good, I keep going back to the argument, it just grabs me!
