[A masculine voice starts to speak sounding part bewildered, part annoyed and most parts amused.]

Well. . . I'd like to say this is the weirdest kidnapping -slash- sudden trans-location I've ever gone through, but I remember waking up completely nude and covered in patterns that could be compared to a child's finger-painting experiment with all ( Read more... )

Are you an astronaut?

I'm [there's a pause as Ginia remembers she's not supposed to talk to adult strangers, even if everyone is really friend.]

I'm not supposed to tell you. I don't know you.

No. We've gone beyond astronauts. I'm just a space traveler.

[Because who likes to explain Forensic Pathology to little kids? Not James.]

That's alright then. Your a smart girl. How about a nickname then, would that be safe?

[It's a bit bewildering, but a person going on about inter-galactic diplomacy affairs would get the attention of any Terran. Especially an astrobiologist Terran.

After a moment:]

... A-Are you... r-referring to non-human sapients...?

[Forgive him if this question seems a bit obvious. After dealing with so many hominid non-humans, he's inclined to ask about everything.]

Yes? At least I think so, if I understand your question correctly.

[James is mild confused. The shock of his arrival is starting to set in a bit, but he recovers quickly.]

[Huh. This is... not new, but rare.]

F-Fascinating...

... But I have never heard of the G-Greetiw. So I would... c-conclude we are from entirely d-different multiversions.

[Awkwardly:] I am an a-astrobiologist, myself.

...Oh dear, did I get dimension hopped? I though that was only a probability, not actually possible.

[Have some bizarre swearing, which really doesn't sound offensive.

There's a pause, before James speaks again, this time sounding interested.]

Astrobiology eh? That is cool. I'm in Alien Forensic Pathology myself, but I've met a few astrobiologists on my travels.

Wh-who are the Greetiw people? [ He's never heard of them before. ]

[voice] shinydeadaliens November 15 2011, 02:35:49 UTC
[EVEN MORE CHILDREN. James is a children magnet! Not that he minds.]

The Greetiw are aliens. Uh...They are humanoid, I mean, kinda look like us, only there heads are looong and narrow and they are covered in chitin. That is, like bug armor. And there feet are like a bird's.

[SO MANY TECHNICAL WORDS. James might like kids, be he rarely lowers his vocabulary to talk to them. Especially when they ask such fun questions.

[ Oooh that sounds so cool. ] So-so like g-giraffes, w-with bird feet, and bug armor? B-But they look like us?

[ The mental image Helios is processing is probably so off but it amusing to think about anyway. ] Ch-chitin. I-I've heard of that before. I-It's really strong right?

Kinda like a giraffe, but there neck is short, like a humans. Their face look more like a motorcycle mask actually. The faces are hard to describe. But basically yeah.

[If only James could draw, he'd sketch it out for Helios.]

Yeah. Their Chitin is strong enough to stop conventional ballistic weapons and blades. Strong enough to stop bullets and knives that is.

It's okay, I've already seen someone killed by them too. ... Well, technically he was already dead, but it would have been lethal if he were still alive.

[ weird world out there. ]

Guess we should just avoid any and all high-heeled shoes around here to make sure.
