AMD Athlon XP 2000+ (wtf is the "+" for?) (which is 1.67Ghz) The plus means better! Seriously, it means that they think that their 1.67 GHz processor performs the same or better than Intel's 2000 MHz processor.
5.) Windows XP setup will take about a half hour to format a 80Gb HD. Quickformat is your friend. It takes XP a little over a minute to do the 40GB drive on my ancient Athlon 750.
How much was the flat screen, and what is its resolution?
I'm actually surprised that you didn't fry the CPU, unless you bought a retail processor this time.
... and you formatted over my baby, coursedb.msoe.edu? You murderer!
1.) I didn't think you could quick format a new HD 2.) The flat panel can get up to a WHOPPING 1024x768... but mom doesn't like it that high, really, so that's not a problem for her. 3.) I actually bought a retail version of the proc.
the core frequency is 133... it's ddr dude.. (or qdr... i don't know what the hell front side busses do these days)
Vampire video probably doesn't suck as much these days as it did on glove. I'd run memory bandwidth tests both ways and probably keep the video card for something else, or you could run video tests if your mom is gonna be playing doom3 or something
