On Thursday, Matt & I went to a pre-season Blazers game versus the Denver Nuggets. I adore going to Blazers games; we have 1/4 season tickets. I also love taking Matt; he totally gets into the game and always has fun. He's a great date.
Well, Thursday night was even more amazing.
First, Matt was shown on the big screen waving around my Wells Fargo card (a promotion they always do).
Next, he actually caught one of the envelopes dropped by the blimp (another promotion). I'm convinced they aimed for him when they dropped it--it would be hard to resist the cute kid jumping and screaming earnestly. He was ecstatic. We went to claim his prize (donated by a Casino, this time), and it was a deck of cards. Most adults would think that was a little lame after all the hoopla, but Matt was in heaven. It's the coolest deck of cards, EVER.
But it doesn't end! The row behind us was one of the rows that got something for free, and just the fact that we were so close to them got Matt all excited.
THEN--Matt made it on the big screen AGAIN for his dancing moves during a time out; this time they actually zoomed in, and he got applause and cheers. But no, it's not over. We beat the nuggets in a close game, and it's always more fun when we win.
We were walking out, both exclaiming over all the good fortune, and I said, "The only thing that would make it more amazing would be if Brandon Roy (whose jersey Matt was wearing) came up to talk to you!" (No, that didn't happen). Matt said, "I would die!" But something else DID happen, to cap off the evening. We got on the Max to ride back to our car. There were, as is the case after every game, hundreds of people stuffed on the train. As soon as we started moving, the cute, 20-something gal squished next to us looked at Matt and said, "Hey, I saw you on the big screen, dancing!!"
What Matt said about the evening sums it up: "I just don't know if tonight was a dream!!"
I had to document it.
