Sad to hear that David Eddings has passed away.

He was a major influence on my writing style. I grew up reading his works, and there were many a time while at sea when the best thing for me was not watching movies on the messdecks, but rather curling up in the rack with an oft-worn copy of one of the Belgariad novels. When I wrote fanfiction,

Oh that is sad news. My wife is a big fan of Eddings, and she has convinced me to give The Belgariad a try. I haven't started yet, but now I think you've given me the push I need.

I have never read Eddings, but I am only starting to read Science Fiction. I have been more of a Science Fiction media fan for most of my life.
