Fringe Finale "Brave New World Part 2"

That was the happiest Fringe finale there has ever been (and that's with Olivia dying at one point, so that's saying something). It really would have worked well as a series finale, though I'm so very happy that it's not. I hope it returns in Sept and not Jan; want me some more Etta action!

OIivia becoming Neo to try to save sweet September was so cool. I guess he's okay since he appears at the end to Walter? So glad he'll be sticking around.

I want to watch the finale again (probably with part 1 'cause it really just should have been presented in a two-hour block) but the scene with dead Jessica's eyes... ::shivers:: That was the creepiest thing I think I've ever seen. Add in the voice, too...

Anyway, I sure didn't expect Belly to be flat-out crazy, but damn it he certainly was. And to lay it at Walter's feet! It's so interesting to see yet another difference between Blue!Walter and Amber!Walter. His brain being cut out to try to keep the universes safe from foes in one verse, and then safe from him in another.

I know Olivia was probably considering how best to kill herself as Belly laid bare the truth that the destruction could not be stopped as long as she breathed but oh, did I NOT expect it to be Walter's hand that slayed her ;_; When it happened, I gasped and tears sprang instantly to my eyes. Not since LOST have I been so surprised and moved. (Just typing this up and remembering is making me tear up.) I knew she couldn't really die or stay dead, unless Etta was being written out of the timeline, but that didn't matter. Olivia was gone, and my face matched Peter's. And then when Walter had to push the bullet out... ;_; I love their messed-up little family. (Totally the bullet Etta was wearing as a necklace!)

So Bell retreated to the Red!Verse, huh. Maybe Olive can send a message to Alt!Liv and Lincoln?

I'm hoping all her powers aren't gone completely; we already know Etta has some, maybe from the overload? I mean, the girl is being bathed in the womb with the stuff, she might have them real early on. Which will certainly be useful when the Observers show up, for sure. Maybe that's what Olive seemed worried about before she told Peter? (Such an adorable scene. Can't wait to see Walter as a grandpa!) The exec producers gave an interview published after the finale suggesting something's up, anyway. Again, really hope it comes back in September!

Considering that in the 2025 future POlivia never had kids, I got to think that Etta's conception was unpreventable, much like Henry's. A child was supposed - destined, to use Belly's favorite word - to be conceived between Olivia Dunham and Peter Bishop, and would have been back in S3 if things went as they were should (as per September's words). Since that timeline got fucked over, as soon as the proper Olive and Peter got together, no birth control could stop Etta's conception. She is desperately needed to save the multiverse by getting her family back together and defeating the Observers. I so, so, so want a mother-daughter show of abilities/joint-badassness in S5. Olivia must be alive/in amber/trapped in the red!verse. I need to see the Dunham women kick ass! :D :D :D

fringe, television, olivia dunham rocks my socks off
