Romantic Love Ideology

I’m taking a gender class at Waseda this semester. Emi chan is also taking this class with me, which is very very funny.

Today I gave a presentation today and it was awesome. I really enjoyed the topic. It was Romantic Love Ideology (RLI). In Japan, RLI is still very influential and people hardly question it. We can see it in a cartoon, TV dramas ( Read more... )

Wow, Shiori you are really amazing!
I want to take a course about love, or other cultural thing is also good! -Then we can discuss more about that!
RLI in Japan is so interesting when you explain with the Japanese history.
I agree to your last sentence "RLI is just a myth, it’s a fantasy, but I think it will work as some kind of invisible power to prevent me from getting divorced easily." but I like RLI. I think that devorce makes their children's opportunity to live with both father.
I took the course about "Subjective wellbeing(about happiness)"class in Korea, and the research found that their sexual love became smaller, but other love(like trust) became deeper if they live together. We call it '情', in Korea, but I don't know how to translate in English.
Hmm I want to discuss about it later when we meet together:)

Shiori, you are really awesome:D
Hope you can get the job you wanted!

Love,
Yoonmi

It's really unfortunate that Yoonmi has a weird idea on sex. She is even afraid of pronouncing the word 'sex'. But I won't give up. I'm gonna change Yoonmi to a naughty girl.
And how much money will I need to stay in Vietnam for 3 days? I'm officialy broke right now. Can you imagine how is it like to be in Japan without money?
I think I won't have another chance to see you if I miss to visit you. When exactly will you leave there?
I really wanna see you:( :( :(

yea, it was really fun to study on RLI. RLI is also called as 'only you forever syndrome'. Isn't it funny? It's a syndrome!!!
We also have '情'. I think it's related to simpathy. It's a kind of deep affection among close people. Or I think it means uncontrolable emotion toward one person who you are not supposed to care about. Like, a husband does a domestic violence to his wife, but the wife can't leave him because she is too accustomed to be with him. In this situation, the wife has '情' to him. Is Korean '情' same?
