I heard them speak of land today. I don't know how much time I have left. I'm tired of huddling here below deck in the stuffiness and gloom. Even if they do sell me, like they threatened to, at least I would see the sun again. Jamaica is a lovely place. Everyone will tell you so.

I can promise you'd be treated much better were you enlisted under my command. Those brutes dealing with you are such a bad example of the men they serve...

...And am I right in assuming you have some degree of medical knowledge?

The smells from land are much better than this hold, but I don't know if everyone who lives there is completely happy about it. These... brutes are... protecting themselves. And not "knowledge" so much as... um, instinct.

I think I'd rather continue my journey to England, but thank you.

As long as you're with the right people, it's a decent place. It's what, or rather who you don't know that can make it unpleasant.

And natural talent is always so much more promising than what can be learned.

I suppose we'll see how things turn out.
