i actually gasped aloud at this which i sort of ridiculous but then not so much when you remember that i'm reading this fic. for god knows why reasons, just because, which is actually the ridiculous part.
oh carmine. that's a lovely word you used there.
because his thumb is already brushing Ethan's cheekbone (leaving smears of blood, so dark, obvious, brands of guilt laid out across his skin)

HAHAHA. it was a nice line for me too. i liked it and psh, the best part is that IDEK IF IT'S SELF-INDULGENT OR TRUE TO CHARACTER OR WHAT. because i haven't seen the film yet. :) (but ethan does seem the type, tbh.)

okay no. don't be insecure and i like that ending. i didn't think it was cutesy really, it wasn't like an "oh that's so adorable" sort of smiley and flaily. it was like a...bittersweet, sort of covertly angsty ending for me, and those endings make me smile because i'm an insane girlie who reads fic for fandoms she isn't even technically in but whatever. that explanation made no sense. i just. idek, that line though.

I almost died with this... Because he really is isn't he? If you stop and think about the movie... omg my heart.
"He feels something start to gently fiddle with his fingers, and when his eyes flicker open Ethan's threading his fingers through his own, then unthreading them, then just stroking his thumb across the knuckles, then he's tangling his own fingers with them again. On, off, on, off."
I almost died with this. It was added with such simplicity, and like it's the most natural thing in the world for Ethan to do that if it's with Brandt... I wanted to cry.
Everything is actually really beautiful in this fic, Beth. Beautifully well done!

this was also just strangely poignant for a five times fic, especially for mission impossible where it's usually all RUNNING and SHOOTING, i really liked it especially this Brandt can count on one hand the number of times he's lain awake in bed remembering the feel of blood-slick lips on his palm.)

i didn't actually mean to make this fic poignant at all when i first started writing it. like, in my mind i was just like 'LOL AND THEN THEY KISS OVER AND OVER AND THERE WILL PROBABLY BE SEX' but then suddenly i was writing the third one and i just got super invested and idek, man. it ran away with me. i'm still dubious about it all even now.

well. that's slightly a lie. i could definitely do with more fic in this fandom. for sure. but that's just because i feel like hunt/brandt has so much potential and i want it all explored in every facet and i also want all the vapid porn on the side and all the kissing fics and akjdhsghf.
