The world’s greatest swordsman was sleeping on the deck of the Baratie when Sanji walked out that morning. He blinked rather comically at the snoring figure before removing the cigarette from his lips, releasing a smoke-tinged sigh. He wondered when the idiot had arrived, wondered why the idiot hadn’t come inside and woken him up.
And then he remembered that he was mad at the idiot.
So he did what any mad person would do to their peacefully snoozing lover: he kicked him, hard, in the head.
“Fuck!” Zoro shot up into a sitting position, hand flying to his throbbing head. “What the hell?!”
“You bastard,” Sanji snarled, returning the cigarette to its rightful place between his lips-much more threatening. “You forgot to write to me! Not one damn letter! Didn’t I tell you before you left that I expected word from you every month? Didn’t I, punk?!”
“You’re the bastard,” Zoro griped, rubbing at his head. “I didn’t forget to write, asshole. I don’t know how to write.”
“Oh.” Sanji frowned faintly and averted his eyes, a bit of embarrassment slipping into his voice. “Right. Sorry. I-forgot. Pretend that didn’t happen.” He extended a hand in offering.
“Tell that to my head…” Zoro took the proffered hand anyway, letting Sanji help him to his feet. “Dumbass,” he smirked.
“Shut up.” Sanji kept his hold on Zoro’s hand, his free one reaching up to remove his cigarette again. “And tell me you’re happy to see me.”
Instead of pointing out how those two demands contradicted each other, Zoro decided to obey both and leaned forward, capturing Sanji’s mouth with his own. Sanji, just as happy to see his idiot, kissed him back and figured this was better than any silly letter, anyway.
