'Crikeys' are in order

Well I certainly do appreciate the youthful glow I have regained, and I am not adverse to being in a state in which I can afford the use of the word "hibbly-swib" without receiving awkward glances and murmurs insinuating ineptitude, I was in actuality hoping that I would regain some youthful spirit as well. Instead I find myself in an inproper age ( Read more... )

Still just as talkative as usual.

Well I was always told when you find something you are quite talented at to drive that thing to the very wall of limitations and crash right through it, leaving shards of doubt and pebbles of disbelief strewn about the road of life which is paved, by the way, with a very different sort of cobble, very diffeent indeed. Or so I used to believe. Now I am not so sure that the wall is worth crashing to.

...Have you finished your processed grains yet?

Talking isn't a talent.

I don't know, would you like to see if I have or not?

For some reason I think 'no' is the correct response. Either way, I see that you've taken a different turn than I in recent days. Tell me, have you found yourself a good man to keep you secure?

I don't think "hibbly-swib" is a real word.

[After all, it's not in the language pack she got from Batou, and Batou clearly knows everything.]

Words come into actuality when their meanings hit the aether of the universe, uttered pass'd the lips of a wordsmith such as myself. it is most certainly a real word. Why else would I have said it?

[That's Samuel's version of "UH-HUH, says me!"]

[Pause to parse that.]

Oh, you made it up.

[It's still not a real word.]

I don't think you understand the nuances of the craft.

[Samuel is far more talkative than he was when Bryn had first met him, and wonders if it's a side effect of his apparent aging. Unfortunately she isn't as pleased with how this change-of-age has affected her.]

I'm here Samuel.

It seems one of us is pleased with their transformation. Are you sure this is still what you really want though? I'm not sure this is going to help you in the long run...

Don't you remember being a scuff-kneed scamp, running through glades with no companion but the wind on your face and a small mute boy from the market by your side? How the freedom felt as it took your hat, and how you could choose to forget what your father would do in return for your carelessness?

I don't know about the mute boy from the market but the wind and freedom, yes.

It seems that what you speak of is a shallow existence of ignorance, however. How can you heal deeper wounds of the heart if all you patch them with is warm breezes and market sweets, Samuel?

...But you forget that a child's heart heals faster, does it not? Should I not be rid of these wounds now that I have stepped back?

Why have I not forgotten yet?
