Lost, or A Rat in a Hat makes a Craze of the Maze

Mar 03, 2010 18:09

My word, there seems to be a mortar-maze here on Deck four-and-ten. I do believe I will try the trudge. If anyone would like equal parts good company and grand adventure, find your way to my side!

Post Scriptum: For future reference, one should probably display excitement and invite companions to traverse the maze shortly before entering, instead ( Read more... )

I... suppose you are lost?

If by that you mean to say "Samuel ol' chum, you haven't a heft where you are right now," then I'm afraid you've missed the point entirely. I happen to be fairly sure that I am in a maze right now, upon a boat, in an ocean.

Um... That... is not what I was asking.

Did you mean to ask if I was dead? What a morbid girl she is...

Samuel, are you alright?

Of course I'm all right! I'm exploring. Tell me, which says "escape" to you better, the left or the right?

Ah...Left?

Do you need me to come find you...?

That would be a quite nice change of face. By which I hope to convey "I haven't seen a face for hours and am slowly losing my grip on reality."

Oh, look! That wall is smiling at me. You are a rose among brambles, good friend!

Sam...

[Have an amused sigh, you adorable thing you.]

Ah, Isa! I've found a slew of hordeables in these wander-walls. A set of militia men figures, a short pink wand bedazzled with a violet star, and even a set of lovely black pearls!

Ah- another surprised ruined by a running mouth. I suppose you know which I plan to give to you now?

[Considering that Samuel is wearing the pearls and waving the wand at every wall he passes, mouthing faux-sanskrit spells and posing prettily, it's pretty clear that Isabella's gonna have some cool mock-battles to set up with her army men.]

That is quite alright, Samuel. I am not deserving of gifts, I am afraid. Perhaps another time, when my behavior has been... more deserving.

[Honestly, even though it's Sam, she's expecting the pearls, but she'll treasure the army men. If he does give them to her after her protests.]

What are you doing in the maze, Samuel?

Not two hours ago I would have answered "trotting happily along", but now I'm afraid I must shift to "trudging heavily around". I kept the initials the same- a great collection, those three letters- don't you think? They remind me of hats, Ath, and Atilla The Hun.

We have a maze?

Either that, or a single very poorly-designed hallway. Hold your scoffing- I've heard of Florencian palaces in that design; though, I hardly entertain the thought that I'm in one of them at the moment. Too little alabaster stone, too few smoultering pots of cannellini bean. Thus, I must stamp this "maze".

Huh. Well, good luck getting out of it. I suggest bring string or chalk next time.

Now that would ruin the fun, wouldn't it? Marking up a maze. I suppose you prefer to bring paddles when you canoe on a lake as well. How unsportly!
