They haven't been to Tartarus in a few days. Not that most of them mind (though Akihiko is restless as always) - they're glad for the break. But even Junpei looks askance after Minako heads up the stairs with a shake of her head and an apologetic, "Not tonight, sorry!" and no other explanation.
"What's up with her?" he asks the lounge in general. "Think everything's alright?" "She'd tell one of us if it wasn't," Yukari answers. "Tch, yeah. One of us meaning you," Junpei retorts

"We've decided," she says without preamble as soon as he appears. "We're going to fight."
His face betrays none of the stress or worry that she's been carrying all too obviously, and she envies that for a moment before seeing the same determination in his eyes. He's gone through it too.
Did he ask you to kill him too? she wants to ask, but doesn't. It was hard enough to watch him walk out the door herself without living through it again with Minato

Kind of a crappy exposition-to-porn ratio here OTL I hope anon likes regardless!
"Hey, mister, are you okay?"
There's nothing wrong with little kids asking harmless little questions, but the voice that snaps Jin out of his thoughts makes him go tense anyway - he's been constantly on edge for over a month now, seeing Shadows around every corner, and today a shitty mood only makes things worse. He blinks at the boy standing in front of him and finally manages a shrug. "Could be better."
"Did you have a fight with your girlfriend?" The kid can't be older than six or seven, all wide-eyed innocence and scraped knees... but he's awfully perceptive for a little brat. If nothing else he's a distraction, and Jin could use one of those.
"Something like that," he admits.
Before his mind can get the better of his mouth and throw out superfluous details - 'cept he's not a girl, and right now I'm not sure he's much of a friend, either - a woman swoops down to snatch her son away, glowering at Jin as she passes, and the momentary distraction
