Ever since I first saw the prototype a little under a year ago, I had wanted what appeared to be the best, most accurate Generation 1 Optimus Prime ever constructed. hmm, I thought the domestic version's rifle was black? What happened? And the torso bit...I thought that was pretty easy to transform (not as complicated as Smokescreen). Also, did any joints pop out when you transform Optimus? Cuz the ankle and the red hatch thing to store his head in truck mode tends to pop off.

Yeah, the right ankle comes off easily, but not the left. The back cover thing does pop off as well as his head X_x. Though, they pop right back on easily enough.

And as for the rifle, the box shows it being mostly black with silver highlights, but it's mostly grey with silver highlights. Not sure if there will be another version with the black rifle or not.

I sure hope not.

I'm afraid that the 20th Primes have started showing up in stores with the black rifle, from what I've heard. I sure don't relish buying mine blind online, which I'll probably have to if I can't find it locally within the next couple weeks.

Probably more like a changeover during production. All the early 20th Primes had the gray rifle (which is identical to the Japanese Masterpiece Convoy's rifle) and the black version is just now starting to surface in small numbers.

I've been told that some stores are listing Anniversary Prime as not restockable, so whatever reason I see first is probably what I'm gonna get. It's too early to tell, but the black rifle could end up being kinda scarce...

Oh well. Black rifle or no, I still like my Prime. And besides, the grey rifle kind of grows on you.

I guess that extra 30 dollars goes to that longer smoke stack and a cardboard trailer ^^;;
