Thanks for all the comments on Day 1! Shower me with words of praise! SHOWER ME!!! XD
This is the case that got me in to the Phoenix Wright Series.
Give or take six months or so after the game came out in the US, one of my friends at school became completely obsessed with it. (:P) I watched her play some of this case, and it looked cool enough, so I borrowed it from her once she was done with the game.
And so it begun.
...Now, on to the actual case. I'm going to post the critical information first, today, courtesy of
Court Records, of course:
Date: September 5th through 9th, 2016
Defense Attorney: Phoenix Wright
Prosecutor: Miles Edgeworth
Defendant: Maya Fey
Victim: Mia Fey
COD: Blunt force trauma to the head
MW: A statue clock (the thinker)
Guilty: Redd White
Accomplice: April May
So, Mia dies... Yeah; completely had to happen for Phoenix to develop at all. Otherwise, something like this would have happened:
Phoenix: Mia! What should I do?!
Mia: Check the Court Record.
Phoenix: Oh. Got it!
Instead, we have this:
Phoenix: Maya! What should I do?!
Maya: Check the Court Record.
Phoenix: Oh. Got it!
Or, just as often, this:
Phoenix: Mia! What should I do?!
Mia being Channeled by Maya: Check the Court Record.
Phoenix: Oh. Got it!
..It's true, I tell you! XD
But still, Mia dying was a good turn for the series. It brought a dark edge to it (wacky murders only satisfy a certain demographic, after all), we met Maya in a situation that allowed for future plot-tastic-ness, and the case also introduced characters that were beyond vital to the series.
The most important one of these characters is Miles Edgeworth, of course. Edgey, with all his angst and badassery, is indeed the fan favorite for very obvious reasons. And he totally has the hots for Phoenix. <--- Oops. Should've saved that for the fanfic.
We also see a photo of Misty Fey, who seems to be suffering from Older!Mia Syndrome - when she's masquerading around as Elise, her design looks so much better.
Here's a comparison:

Must be the hairstyle. '_'
Also, we meet the "Splendiferous" villain of this case, far more evil than our last murderer... Redd White of Bluecorp. Redd White of Bluecorp is an interesting character: he's actually evil, he doesn't mind a murder and a side of blackmail with his morning coffee, and he's PINK. So Pink. In fact, me and my friend (same one mentioned above) have taken to calling Redd White "Cotton Candy Man." Gar! Him and his atrocious bling deserved everything he got. >.<
Ahhh... And Ms. May and her
Gainaxing, of course! How could I forget? ;P
Now, I'd usually post a few quotes, but the following is way too hilarious. Script taken, as before, from
Court Records:
-Phoenix
It's not something I can
claim to understand...
-Phoenix
But you and Mr. White
are lovers, aren't you!
-Grossberg
W-w-what! My boy!
-Phoenix
You sent that painting to him!
-Phoenix
As a sign!
A sign of undying love!
-Grossberg
M-m-my boy, please!
You're letting your fancies
run away with you!
-Grossberg
Where do you get these
bizarre ideas?
-Phoenix
I... I don't understand
how you could...
-Grossberg
That's because I'm not,
we're not...
Don't be ridiculous!
-Grossberg
...
-Grossberg
Enough.
-Grossberg
I'll swallow my pride and
tell you all.
-Phoenix
(I knew it! They are
lovers!)
-Grossberg
N-no! We are NOT lovers!
Wow... This is pretty hard... I hope I can keep up!
16 days until Apollo Justice!
Congrats, New York Giants! Although I'm in California, the underdog has won! (Totally a parallel of case 1-4. *fanspasm* They won at the last minute, the Patriots had that whole "Perfect Win Record" thing going on [a la Manfred von Karma], and they even have a Wright on their team! XD *is not a football person at all - I'm more of a baseball person :) * )
