This is really intriguing. I'm still not sure what tiny things were different and what Hammer is supposed to DO. But you've absolutely reeled me in. Excellent stuff.

The sad thing, though, is that Captain Hammer can't realize his own faults, and his inattention to the world beyond his own desires keeps things repeating - the single act he was meant to change is the only thing he keeps the same.
