Bleh, that sucks. My car decided to spontaneously combust sooner than I would have liked also forcing me to purchase a new vehicle ASAP. Fortunately, I knew exactly what I wanted.
Try to manipulate your insurance company to pay you more for the car than it was worth. I got a relatively nice sum from mine because the car sounded like it was in a lot better shape than it was. (We didn't lie, that'd be fraud, but their method of valuing is so vague even a hunk of junk can sound like it was still in good condition and thus worth more
( ... )
I'm in a position actually where I'd probably be better off not claiming against the insurance policy as the hit on my no claims bonus would likely be more than the value of the car.
i was planning on changing the car anyway, I know I'm a beneficiary of what funds my Great-Grandad had left, but I don't think that's much. I was going to wait and see what I got and used that towards a new car.
I do have some savings so I will probably end up using the majority of those and hoping that what inheritance I get replenishes those.
As for what, well I'm not good about working out what is a good car and what isn't; but I do know people who do so advice will be sought this weekend; and if you think fuel economy is a big selling point in the US, try living in a country with 76% of the pump prices being tax.

There's nothing the insurance company can do? Finding out that they don't do crap when a car is stolen makes me angry. Grrr.
