Purely from a gameplay point of view, I found Shadow Hearts: Covenant far superior to its predecessor. Atmosphere and story-wise, though, the first comes out far ahead.

I'm also wondering how anyone has managed to finish Xenosaga II. I even managed to finish Hoshigami, which was very dull, but Xenosaga II's battle system alone is boring enough to drive me away.

I think that it is only possible to finish Xenosaga II because when you take out the cutscenes and those GS fetch sidequests then there is only about an hour or so of actual game left.

Amazingly it still manages to need two DVD's, so you change one feeling you haven't done much and than you've finished the game.

The way it is going then the next installment will probably have an auto play option so you don't even have to do anything that distracts you from the cutscenes.

Maybe my timing is off. Suikoden IV had been out for a while and there is not official confirmation of a new game yet. *is trying to stay optimistic* Maybe once there is official confirmation unexpected people may show up again.

My last lead has not written back to me. I'm totally out of leads. X____X

Am I the only one that enjoys the battle system of Xenosaga II?

What's the definition of this so called "atmosphere"? Setting and characters?

Atmosphere to me would be the tone and overall feel to the game set by the story, setting and characters.
