[NDS] Harvest Moon Sunshine Islands
Summer was hot all the way and not a single rain fell. Everyday flew by after I cared for my animals and watered my Corn, and collected mushrooms and courted Vaughn. At least there was no typhoon though.
50 Bags of Corn was a little too much after all. By the 2nd harvest, I ran out of time to harvest the whole thing - 50*6... 300 Corn!! - (forgot to hire Yellow Sprites) in one day so my watering schedule became messed up >_< Oh well. Ship a few hundred of Roasted Corn and Braised Potato (less fresh now :/) and got 150K Gold at some point.
Finally got all (?) 7 members of all teams except the Mining team (6), and Fishing team (5). The green Shopping team finally returned from resting around 22nd so I hired them to bring down the price (Enchantment Large: 7 members) at Mirabella's shop, and finally sold Nono and Nana, my 2 cows at about 5000G each, and bought a Jersey cow (Brauny) and a Suffolk Sheep (Rizu). Keeping my normal cow Sophia and sheep Cherie (for now) so they can join and win festivals. Also bought some hundreds of pet/livestock food, 4 Sheep Miracle Potion, and a Bell. Mirabella earned a lot today. Thanks to the sprites, I saved some thousands myself and told them to stop working and now they're off to rest for 30 days =_= Had wanted them to work at Gannon's so I can build some extensions...
My chicken Ada placed 3rd place in the festival and I got 2 more Wonderful stone pieces. I think she had about 3 hearts. Summer 13 was the Cooking Festival with a soup theme. I brought my herb soup and added many colorful herbs that I've been hoarding, and won champion~ I got a Yellow Wonderful - I'll use the Japanese term from now - a Yellow Suteki. That's like my third. It powers up tools. I put them all on my animal tools for now.
Oh the monkeys like me well enough now, at 5-6 hearts. And have brought me about 6 pieces of Gold Lumber now. They're just sitting in my cabinet for now though.
The Cat festival rolled around and Luna (only 3 hearts) got 4th place. Didn't bother to reload for that. Got one Suteki piece which is my 7th. I brought them to Charlie and he made a Purple Suteki out of it. Purple gives me 2G whenever I use the tool it's affixed on. My watering can is filled full with 3 Suteki's (so that it can water 2x3 at half stamina) so I put it on my sometimes-used Axe.
Oh, and I finally shipped 100 mushrooms and found out Gannon had been hiding two unwanted pigs. I chose the black one and named it Ryoga :D So Gannon built a pig pen for free on Mushroom Island and I let it roam outside since it's dry everyday. (Caveman Shea has promised not to hunt and eat it, phew). It's cute how it runs towards me when I hold a Blueberry (my only fruit so far) in my hands and I 'hand-feed' it. It's now at about 2 hearts and mainly helps me collect some random mushroom once a day - although it involves me chasing it down within 30 seconds after it emerges from the bushes or it'll eat it up. Ungrateful bastard. Quite a waste of precious minutes. The Orange Animal team finally finished resting and I sent all 7 of them to Enchant the Pig Pen to boost hearts. Ryoga isn't in it but I sure hope it works anyway. The schedule is 10-days Enchanting and 30-days of Rest for the sprites - a lot of days to waste.
Tuesday (Summer 14?) was when Vaughn first reached Red Heart. I tried proposing but he would only say he was flattered T_T I have been lazy referencing the guide again and belatedly realized I've to do a 2nd House upgrade and buy a Husband Bed before anyone would agree to marry. It wouldn't be so painful if Vaughn didn't disappear for 5 days after orz So I got the requirements done on Wednesday (300 Lumber accumulated all gone and paid full price for the building) and could only propose again on 20 Summer. He was flustered :D And of course accepted. He has no family (abandoned as a baby ;_: whee no in-laws ^_^) so he informed Mirabella and her daughter instead.
Then we went right back to work since we need 'one week of wedding preparation'. 23 Summer was the Fishing festival and the Purpler Fishing team was finally available again. I hired 3 (Small Enchantment) to increase more fishing hits. That left one sprite at the time on the island so I can continue to gift it small fish daily, so the 5th member came soon. Spent a long while fishing during the Fishing festival, eating up 8 of my Braised potatoes. Got dozens of small fish =w= When will I unlock the medium fish? Bloated with potatoes and low on stamina, I submitted some random small fish to Denny and predictably placed 4th - wait what? I thought small fish couldn't qualify to even enter. Orz. Wasted my chance in first year T_T Got a Suteki piece.
26 Summer was the Fireworks Festival. I rushed over to attend but it wasn't Monday/Tuesday and Vaughn wasn't there -_- So for the 2nd year running, I watched the fireworks with Gannon:

Next day, to my surprise, was Monday and the wedding. Lol. Didn't hire sprites to take over some of my work. Oh well. So spent a whole day in celebrations (he looks snappy in a suit! Why did he go back to cowboy wear!) and told Vaughn he can continue to call me by name too. (Although it was tempting to request Honey or Dear from him, I think it would alarm me). Woke up 6am on Tuesday to find that my husband was nowhere to be found, and more than half of my Corn are now ready to harvest, and that it was Natalie's birthday, and that tomorrow was the Summer Crop Festival to find the best Corn. What an exciting few days. So I went right back to farm work, ignoring my missing new husband.
29 Summer was when I next saw him, at the Summer Crop Festival. Of course, I easily won with my freshly harvested Epic Corn. Got a Red Suteki that increases range. I also remembered to hire the 7 Yellow Sprites (Large Enchantment) to do some harvesting tomorrow, where I was going to harvest everything and cut up the corn stalks and buy Fall seeds.
Except 30 Summer was Typhoon day.

Did I mention how hateful the forecast is yet? There's no longer TV and I've to ask Taro-ojiisan to find out the next day's weather. Sure he doesn't move around a lot, but his grandson Elliot is in the house with him and I avoided his Heart Event for so long I've been in a habit to not check with Taro anymore unless I happen to see him outside. I could only reload to midnight, grab whatever Corn I could (felt like half the field) till 6am came and I found myself safely at home on 30 Summer. The Yellow Sprites were there in the house and proudly reported having harvested and shipped a grand total of 63 Corn (so that's their max contribution. So... useful). Well that's 63 less wasted. I thanked them and told them to stop working so they went to take their 7-day break (at least it isn't 30). I vented my frustration by swinging my axe around the house till I was exhausted (for 2G ahem) and went to bed. Vaughn doesn't seem to mind.
1 Fall. Thankfully, Ada, Luna, Chuck and Ryoga survived the typhoon, somehow, despite the first three being trapped in a man-made outdoor pen. I dumped Ryoga in his pen anyway, just in case he's missing out the sprites magicking by being outside. The cows and sheep were unhappy at not being fed but I can deal with that. To rub salt in the wound, it's Friday today and Chen doesn't sell seeds. Not only that, his son Charlie can't help me affix Suteki's. Fail my life. Somehow though, my sickle had one Suteki in it anyway so it had 1x3 range, just abit short of the ideal 2x3 range I wanted and a lot better than 1x1, which is my hoe. Since I cut up the dead corn stalks, I would certainly have to replow some of the land tomorrow. All my plans blown to hell, thanks to the unexpected typhoon.
Basically, Summer ended in tears.
