Awesome! Awesome awesome awesome AWESOME!
A review of events under the following cut. Oofuri meetup report and pix to follow when I'm not at the airport anymore!
THURSDAY
So all my luggage and my me got to San Francisco safe and sound. There was no lost bags of art and merch, no searches of my pornographic drawings, just a smooth six-hour flight there and into my cushy-as-hell-hotel room.
After my arrival and organization of wigs and costumes on Thursday, I hopped out to catch a bus to Japan town in uptown San Francisco. I was delighted to find myself on a bus full of fujoshi who were also going to Japan town, who were all super helpful and friendly and helped me navigate buses to our destination. They were all lovely people. I bought snacks and plum wine at the grocery, fabulous anime and manga from Kinokuniya, and then we had dinner and went back to hotel.
FRIDAY
Friday, I woke up and lept upon
1010nabulation,
narwhaltorte, and
jinsunpyo_18, with whom I went to the mall, ate sushi (and met up with more people, forgive me, it was at this point that my name-remembering capacity was at full) at Mr. Teriyaki, then, and registered for the con. Then there was swap meet (at which I acquired the most amazing Hikago doujinshi, to be elaborated on later!) and went to Japan town again, this time in
1010nabulation's car, with the delightful addition of
herongale to the parade.
After shopping and food, we went back to the hotel and proceeded to get silly as hell. We drank plum wine, wrote ridiculous round-robin fic, read doujinshi
astrokittie and (who was your accomplice? I forgot T_T) joined us, with some very seductive tequila, and then they left and I got REALLY smashed.

SO I proceeded to get exceedingly inebriated, and once the severe inebriation was combined with the high of hanging out my my amazing friends, writing bizarre and cracky fiction, and the CAPTAIN JACK SPARROW video, I apparently became a video-tape worthy performer, creating great impromptu dialogues between Haruna and Akimaru and a feather boa (somehow,) while creating alternative lyrics to the refrain of CAPTAIN JACK SPARROW.
herongale got this all on tape. I imagine it will surface eventually. It was very silly.
So once that was over, we returned to our rooms, where I proceeded to send lots of text messages to everyone, STILL to the tune of CAPTAIN JACK SPARROW (though the syllable counts are extraordinarily suspect):
Sent to
1010nabulation:
This is the tale, of ka a gu ya ma
His head is shaved, but his mo o tives pure
I'm really drunk, but you guys are awesome
Somehow I thought it was okay to draw Nezumi with a rat for a dick
Sent to
herongale:
This is the take of akimaru kyohei
why did I think it was okay to draw Nezumi with a rat for a dick
And then I went "oh shit I hope I'm sending this to the right person"
This would be a bad thong to text to the wrong person
My phone changed "thing" to "thong"
I love this phone
Then I took a shower and fell asleep.
For those not in the know, yes, for some reason, I did draw a picture of Nezumi, from No.6 naked with a rat where his penis should be. No, I don't know why. But it was clearly the highlight of the evening.
SATURDAY
Saturday I set up my fan market table, and proceeded to make decent-but-not-phenomenal sales. I escaped to the dealers rooms, and got
Starfighter and
Teahouse and
Always Raining Here TPBs, and excessive amounts of doujins from Oofuri, Tiger & Bunny, and Natsume Yuujinchou. I managed to get a fabulous Edward x Ivan one and that just about made my life. There was no Hikago to be found anywhere, to my immense dismay, but I can't say I'm surprised. It seemed as though Anime Boston had a bigger selection of doujinshi than Yaoicon did, in retrospect. More to look forward to in the spring, then! There was an awkward Natsume Yuujinchou meetup and then the fanmarket closed and it was time for more fun with my baseball friends.
We went back to Japan town, and we had a great dinner and sang SO MUCH KARAOKE! Oh god, it was the best time. We came back, exhausted, and took a nap before deciding to go to the dance. Unfortunately, the dance the delayed and were were falling asleep standing up, so we did a little boogie in the hall and then went to bed. I had to get up early and do commissions and a million other things.
SUNDAY
herongale was a good sport about me waking up at the asscrack of dawn to draw, and then we had breakfast and I set up for day #2 of fanmarket. I sold a bunch of original stuff and got the more creative commissions on this day.
I bought some Fumi Yoshinaga comics, cheap copies of the Sensitive Pornograph and Kizuna III DVDs, and after all was said and done, I made enough cash to cover all the things I bought!
So a last hurrah was to be had on Sunday night.
herongale and I grabbed more alcohol, some pizza, and awaited the return of
1010nabulation and
narwhaltorte. We watched the aformentioned cheaply purchased DVDs, drank and lazed around talking about fanfics and fandom and all the great memories we'd made. Then I pet
1010nabulation for a few hours as we lounged around half asleep, rereading old RP logs and waiting for 4AM, when I'd be leaving for the airport.
It was such a wonderful night!
So here I am, back on the ground on my side of the country, waiting for my hubby to come retrieve me. OH how I miss him. I need kisses and sex and then I need to go home and cuddle my cat and sleep in my bed.
I had the most fabulous time, and though it was a money drain, it was worth every penny. I was so happy to meet every single person I met, and now I am working feverishly to encourage them all to join me over here for Anime Boston in April! I would be trilled!
<3 What a fabulous, fabulous, FABULOUS time!
