WARNING: Crazy-long story, read if you've got time/really care:
My friend Kayla goes to Shenandoah University, about an hour drive from here. We've been talking on facebook/texting some for a couple weeks now, and so Saturday I texted her just to say "how are you" and she responded with, "Pretty good, I'm getting skanky outfits for my lingerie party tonight." I decide I'm going out there to investigate said party and hang out. I leave work and start driving out there and my friend Henry that works with me was following me out. At some point during the drive whist texting, she says "well i'm staying at my boytoy's house tonight" which kind of threw me because I thought she was single. I mean, she is, but she's semi-seeing this dude. In any event, just before I get there she texts me and says her phone's dying but find her in such and such room and here's her friend's number.
Seems okay so far. Except the other number she gave me doesn't work, and I don't know where this dorm is. I call my brother and get him to look it up online for me (he's cool like that) and make my way there. There's all these people hanging out on the patio between 2 dorms so I ask them if they know Kayla. One girl says her roommate knows a Kayla-matches my description- and tries to call her roommate. No luck, so the girl lets me in, I go up and find the 3rd floor is all guys. Clearly she's given me the wrong room number and a bad phone number.
At this point I'm kinda frustrated, and when I come back out of the dorm Henry's gone. Call him up and he says "I had to help my boy out with some stuff, I'm driving back to Centerville." So now I'm there, don't know anyone, can't find the person I do know. So what do I do? I make friends. All the people sitting outside at the patio (including the girl Karen who let me into the dorm) were cool, so I sit down with them. hang out for a while, then we all migrate down to this park, smoke hookah, then wander into the woods and they smoke a bunch of pot (I didn't, not my thing) and wander around some more. I climbed trees and sundry other objects, they decided I was cool and should stay there because I fit right in. We go back to the patio and the one girl Rachel (who had a sweet mohawk) whose roommate also knew Kayla said she was going up to her room. I decided I'd tag along, see if her roommate was there, and try to contact Kayla if possible. When we go up there, Kayla's actually in that room with Emily (Rachel's roommate) Now I've found Kayla, my reason for being there, and it's progress
We hang out in that room for a bit, then head down to Kayla's room so I can meet her roommate, Sarah. We hang out a bit, this semi-creepy girl Christine (I believe that's her name) and her roommate Ashley come in, they all talk about the fact that the lingerie party was pushed off a week. At some point Sarah pulls Kayla outside the room and apparently tells her she doesn't want me staying the night in there because her boyfriend would get angry. When they come back Sarah says "Kayla, I'm going to bed soon" in that tone of "I'm saying these words, but what I mean is get him out of the room." I text Kayla (even though I'm sitting next to her, so as to be discreet) and say "why don't we just go down to the lounge, hang out and talk there?"
We head down there, Christine shows up a minute later, then Ashley comes and we're all talking. While we're there, Kayla gets a call from her friend Shelby and Shelby's bawling because her boyfriend of 3 years just got really drunk and dumped her. By now it's probably 12:30 or so. Shelby wants Kayla to come comfort her, I'm there so Kayla doesn't want to go, Ashley and Christine offer for me to stay in their room, but I don't feel like intruding, especially if Kayla's not going to be there anyway. About this time, 3 dudes go running down the hall with their asses hanging out of their boxers. Some football player the girls know shows up and starts hanging out with all of us, we go back down the hall to Kayla's room for some reason and of course Sarah and Emily didn't go to bed, they're up; Sarah just wanted me out of the room. I tell kayla to go be with Shelby, help her friend out, and I'll just drive home. By now it's probably 2:30 or close to 3 AM.
I walk Kayla over to where she's gonna meet Shelby, back by the patio where I met the group of people in the first place. We sit down to talk for like, 2 minutes (during which time I basically say don't feel bad, don't worry about me, stuff comes up, etc. over and over) and then Shelby texts her again to come around the front of the dorm. I walk her around to the front (pretty much the whole time I've been there, Robert-the "boytoy"-has been texting her.) He's randomly out front of this dorm (awkward turtle, seeing as I'm somewhat interested in Kayla) I pretty much peace out, walk to my car, I'm dead tired, it's a bit after 3 AM I start driving home, begin to get kind of drifty tired, pull off at an exit and park in a hotel parking lot, sleep for about half an hour in the car, wake up, call Jason, and talk to him for about 45 minutes until I'm almost home. Got home at like, 5 something in the morning.
In other news, work's been tiring as ever recently. Still opening 5 days a week; 7-4 Monday-Thursday, 7-7 Saturday. This gets me up at about 10 of 6 every day, and I'm still commonly 5-15 minutes late for work depending on traffic. Thankfully today I got 5 WAPs (alignment re-checks) which pay 7.50 a piece. Worth more than 5 hours' work, since I only get 6.50/hr. The rest of the time, I don't make all that much. I'm currently applying at a different tire shop (Piedmont Tire and Auto) which is about half the distance, 1/3 the traffic, and almost twice the pay. Hopefully I'll start there mid-October.
Got a new head unit for the car,
Alpine CDA-9856, from a friend in exchange for getting him an employee discount for tires (that's the plan; if not, I've helped him out installing a new hood on his car, done a free oil change for him, and will pay him if my old one sells.) All in all, I still get a great deal. The best part is in the mail: an iPod cable for the head unit. Full control over the iPod from the head unit, including search features. It's coming from Hong Kong and shipped yesterday, so it may be a week or so. Sure will be nice to have once it shows up though.
Otherwise, life's decently uneventful. Killing time on the computer while I'm home mostly, and waiting for April when I head off to WyoTech in Laramie, WY.
