I am putting this quote here because I feel as though a lot of like-minded people I know do not put enough effort into the things we know we ought to be doing, such as recycling rigorously. I'm guilty of this too. Whenever I've thrown something ( Read more... )

My number is so high mostly because of driving. I drive home most weekends - and that is 300 miles a week, even if I never get into my car again.

In regards to turning things off - you're right for the most part. But turning them off still reduces the amount of power used - that is why I mentioned disabling microwave clocks. Plus, I wasn't referring simply to things that are left plugged in. We can also be frugal with our use of portable electronics so they'll be charged less. I've heard that a lot of newer electronics are being designed to cut the circuit so that no power is drained in idle. そうと聞いたけど、本当かどうか分からないんだ。
