Back from Georgia for a couple days now and I've been feeling a bit melancholy and at first I didn't know why. Yes, I saw my Mom and my sister and her family and that was great and part of the reason for my mood, I'm sure. But today I was driving along I95, looking out at the horizon when it dawned on me again (I've had this thought before...

Mmmm . . . I stood on my deck this morning, like I do most mornings, and breathed in the mountain mists from the shadowed heights. Tall trees looming over my home spread the rising sunlight into stripped bands of light and dark, and as a brisk wind came up, rustling some leftover leaves and half-forgotten memories about my deck, I thought of you. Syncronicity, eh?

I recall hiking about these mountains with you, and the adventures we had there. Sometimes I marvel that you had the fortitude good sense will to leave them oh so long ago, and remain gone for so long.

Smart move. hehe
