Title: Don't You Remember
Pairing: SakurAiba (past), AiMiya (friendship?)
Rating: PG-13
Author: chellie
Summary:“It's not like we're in that kind of relationship anymore, right?”
"You cannot be 'just friends'. I mean, the way he looks at you and does things for you. Please, spare me all the excuses."
"Shut it. We're friends and that's it. Nothing more. And he's probably being that way because I'm letting him stay."
"Really?" Nino narrowed his eyes at me. "Are you sure you've never slept with him?"
"Do not jump into such a ridiculous conclusion," I said, holding up a finger.
As expected, Nino wasn't one to give up quickly.
"So you have!"
I turned my back on him and continued sorting out the papers on my desk. Nino did no help and sat down at my workspace.
"Shut up,"I told him.
"I didn't say anything." Nino feigned innocence.
"Sure but your eyes are doing all the talking and that stupid smile of yours doesn't look like it's going anywhere."
"Fine. I will stop bothering you once you tell me the deal between you and him."
There was no escaping Nino.
"He's my ex. We dated years ago, broke up, lost contact. I told you about him.”
“Right! Is it that cheating son of a bi--- ok. I'm may be out of line. Sorry. Continue.”
“Saw him last month at this bar-- you know that one we frequent -- and then we.. he went home with me."
"And you're dating again now?"
"No, we're not. We talked about it next morning. It was nothing but we did agree to be friends again. That's it."
"That's it?"
"Yeah."
"But why is he moving in with you? You're even cleaning your place for him."
"He's having a hard time looking for a place. The one he had had an ass for a landlord."
"I see." Nino grabbed my wrist and looked at my watch. "Oh crap. Didn't realize lunchtime's long gone. I gotta go. I'll catch you later."
-
“Sho-chan.” I knew I sounded too excited on giving him a phone call.
“Aiba-chan, what's up? I'm still at work.”
“Nothing. I was just wondering if you're going to have dinner here or are you eating out? I made some dinner.”
“Oh, umm.. I--”
Stupid me. Why'd I make dinner for the both of us? It's not like we're in that kind of relationship anymore, right?
“It's fine. More for me!” I laughed (quite bitterly). “I'll just catch you later.”
He hung up before I could say something else.
I walked into the living room and almost shrieked when I found Nino comfortably lying on my couch, looking at this AV mag I had stashed underneath the cushions.
“You should find a better place to put these now that you have a so-called roommate, with whom you'll probably me sleeping with on a regular basis.”
I sat by his feet and sighed heavily.
“And I should find another place to put my spare keys. Please, Nino, don't just come barging in here anytime you feel like it.”
“Excuse you.” He sat up and threw the magazine across the coffee table. “But I did not barge in. I just came in. Quietly, in fact.”
“Shut up.”
“So you have some food, right?” Nino asked, doing the honor of raiding the kitchen.
“I don't.”
“Please. Your boyfriend-- I mean, your roommate isn't coming home, is he? I'll eat this.”
I stared at the white ceiling and listened to the sound of Nino heating up the food.
“Do you think he'll do it again?”
“Do what? Cheat on you?”
“Yeah.”
“I don't know. But you're not together again in the first place.. so why ask me that?”
“Oh. You're right.” I looked at Nino who was happily munching down the meal I had prepared for me and Sho-kun. “Is it good?”
“No.”
