I've been invited to totty's leaving do

I'm not sure I want to go because he's boring me, it'll be full of aggravation from my two erstwhile colleagues (one of whom is stalking me on twitter which I've now had to flock) and it's just all too much faff for a wanker who won't sleep with me and is incredibly hard work ( Read more... )

So you go into your second week and thank the people who gave you "advice". It makes them feel effective, and that engenders good will.

As to Totty's party, show up just to drop off a card and gift; have one drink, then tell Totty that you're sorry, but you have another commitment that evening, and you wish him the best, and it was nice seeing him again, and you hope he'll stay in touch. Then pull a fast exit and go see a terrible film or something.

Mmm. god working is annoying though.

Snort. I may do something like that. if it's fun, I'll stay. If it isn't, I will leave early and say I have a better offer.

Going back to an old workplace when you're successful can be a very satisfying thing. Did it myself once. I can recommend it.

Let's hope the new job stays OK!

I had to employ more creativity filling out timesheets than in any other part of the job. Also needed to suppress the inappropriate urge to honesty, viz. 15.30-15.45: looking out of the window wondering what to have for dinner. 15.45-17.15: filling out timesheets. 17.15-17.30 looking for new job.

Seriously though why can't you put filling out timesheets in the timesheet? I had a friend who was surprised to be praised by an H.R. muppet for her consistent work ethic. She didn't like to point out that the only things she ever bothered to change on her worksheets was the date.

The best time to make progress in a job is at the beginning.

What did you decide about the going away event for Totty?

How are you feeling about your job?

How are your parents doing?

How are you doing?

*Hugs* from a nosey so-and-so on a different continent. :-)

Hee. I went. It was nice though I wsa coughing up a lung, and not many people turned up and he was a bit mopey.

My new job is fine - a bit dull but that's better than screaming point with stress.

My parents... are a trial, but ok. Mumsy was apparently having a lot of tests for something that turned out to be do with her existing meds

I'm doing fine now - I've just about stopped coughing! I'm writing.

And totty and i went out last Friday and had a nice time.

Thank you for the update. I am glad it all went well. Though your poor lungs! *hugs* I am glad that stress is out of your life now. I am glad to hear your Mum will be feeling better. Are you happy with your health care system? Mine is nationally maintained as well, and I am quite happy with it. You are writing? How lovely. Totty: an outing? I am glad you had a nice time. Take care.
