Balthier was lucky he had an airship, because otherwise how would he get anywhere so quickly as he did? With the money he had stashed in various locations, the sky pirate had every intention of living it up, and having a good time of things. Whether he was fighting to help someone, or stealing from people because really, why not, Balthier's ultimate goal seemed to be simply to have a good time and have as much fun as he could on the way there.
Looking over from where he was leaning against one of the walls of the little cafe he'd stopped at, Balthier sipped at a cup of coffee, smirking at the taste of the reused grounds, idly leaning over to spit a few errant gritty pieces into a barren flowerbed. "Hell of a town, Edge.." he stretched slightly, "Or is it still Midgar? I always get that confused.."
With a start the young woman jerked her head up. She'd been so deep in thought that she hadn't noticed the man standing there. A few deliberate and confused blinks and she finally had to inquire; "Uhm...I'm sorry, were you talking to me?" This kind of thing could be hard to discern. And there was a good chance he was just thinking out loud and she only happened to be passing close enough to hear his vocal musings about the town and the bones that said town had been built upon.
"I believe the residents are still somewhat getting used to the change as well. People often find difficulty in calling a place they've known for a long time something new when they can still remember what the city was like when the place was still filled with bustling streets and tall buildings, rather than a ruin with a town at the outskirts." Thinking about how Midgar had looked before Meteor brought a melancholy expression to the woman's face, and her emerald green eyes became a little watery before she managed to regain control of herself.
Balthier smirked slightly, as he emptied the remnants of the coffee into the empty flowerbed, making a bit of a face at the steaming result. The man couldn't tell if it was steaming because of the heat, or because something in the coffee was slowly consuming the organic components of the dirt, like some kind of mild acid. It could have been acid, this was Midgar, and not the upper class space above the plate, either. "Hmm? No, I wasn't talking to you exactly so much as talking out loud.. but thank you for the answer, Miss." Balthier couldn't help but find himself flirting with women, and his body language reflected that as he looked Aerith over, from her pretty green eyes to her smooth, pale skin. He could tell from her hands that she wasn't simply some rich man's daughter slumming it, she had somehow managed a pink and red outfit and well kept nails here in the slums, sure, but his keen eyes could tell she worked for her living, and did her best to remain feminine about it
( ... )
The young woman knew a flirt when she saw one. In fact this particular situation seemed to be one of "It takes one to know one". She hadn't done any of that for a while though and while she was sorely tempted Aerith was quite sure she was out of practice. His attempt to cheer her brought a smile to the woman's face and she found herself curious about what a Sky Pirate was and what they did. She could at least deduce that sky probably meant Airship and she always loved the chance to see those, having had very few opportunities to ride in those fantastic machines.
"It's nice to meet you Mr. Balthier" She said with a little grin. "I'm Aerith. You'll be surprised to know then that I grew up in this place. Well, actually that place". She waved slightly to the ruins. "What does a Sky Pirate do sir?" The woman questioned, showing her interest.
