It's been a funny old decade...

Ben did a top ten albums, so I thought I do top 10 books. These are all fiction, I expect no fiction would include The Fabric of the Cosmos by Brian Greene, Simon Singh's Code Book, Genius of Photography and The Lens of Nostalgia, but I'm not making a list of those.

Interesting. I thought Strange and Norrell was a bit boring, like a fantasy novel for people who were too up themselves to read any genre fiction and so didn't realise how much interesting stuff there is around. There was a lot there to like and I had no qualms with the style of it, but there was more room for exploration and to me it kind of petered out rather than coming to a satisfactory conclusion.

Also, I'm surprised that you've not read Anathem yet.

I don't think I have time to compile an equivalent list, but I'm wondering what would be on it now. Certainly Perdido Street Station ( or The Scar, maybe ) and I think The Raw Shark Texts, probably American Gods too. So much of what I have really loved this decade was written earlier, though..
