Fuck.

I can't say that I'm suprised...It's just really fucking sad. If you live in Texas and you didn't vote then you suck. Once again people are made to feel like second class citizens for loving another person. God forbid that two women, or two men or someone who is transgendered or queer or whatever get to have the same rights as someone who is ( Read more... )

Move to Oregon.

Seriously though, we've had to fight against our anti-rights measures here too. There have been tough battles, and I'm finding myself more and more disgusted with the South. Do people really wish it was the 1850s again? Maybe next Texas will pass laws making it illegal for women to vote, because they shouldn't worry their pretty little heads about big manly political issues?

I keep thinking that the Civil War didn't work. The Civil Rights Movement didn't work. And look at our Supreme Court... its turning into an old time country club (with the exception being Clarence Thomas who's a documented sexual harasser wannabe country clubber). It is disgusting...

Can you explain to me why people are so fucking afraid of gays, anyway? I can't believe how people are so bigoted. Ugh...

I wholeheartedly agree. I really object to who it's been characterized by the media as well.

It wasn't just an ammendment defining marraige as between a man and a woman... It's much much worse than that.

I went and voted. It was obvious to me, looking around me at the church where we voted (as if that's not fucked up enough), that Prop 2 would pass. Doesn't make it any less depressing.

no as far as I know you couldn't vote because of how long you lived here? You don't suck.

i still feel like suck, because I thought I could vote, and i just didn't think about it far in advance. although partially I don't know if it would have done any good if EVERY other county voted for the measure.

fucked up

i kind of suck. i had some issues with absentee ballots, and needless to say, i don't think any of my votes have counted in awhile. besides, my original county is po-dunk and i'm sure the vote was 100% for it. i need to get re-registered for next november's gubenatorial. knowing that my registration probably wasn't fixed in time, i tried to get the word out, and on several different levels. some people don't buy into the morality behind it, b/c they see homosexuality as immoral. as my very christian boss at the bakery said, "it doesn't bother me if they're married." i added that, in the end, we're all sinners.

so on another level, besides discrimination, i argued against the idea of adding yet another amendment to our already semi-shotty constitution (don't get me wrong, i love several things about the tx constitution, but if you have to amend something so much...). even though there is already a law against gay marraige, people felt like an amendment was needed b/c scary judges can repeal the law against "the will of the ( ... )
