Tuesday night I was admitted to the hospital.

All day long I had been having severe chest pains, numbness/pricking in my left arm, and trouble breathing. My immediate thought was "Oh fuck, I'm having a heart attack" but I didn't do anything. I'm a mild hypochondriac, and my Dad's best friend had just suffered a heart attack a couple days before, so

Anyway, when you are responsible for examining people in such ways, you have to put your mind in a different place lol Avatar State much?

When I was in CNA training we practiced lifting people properly, and I was paired with a rather attractive(read: really fucking gorgous) girl....and it was nothing. We practiced lifting.

Flirting to lighten the mood as the ultrasound tech did is one thing, but in reality he was probibly as unmoved as the tech that examined you.

Oh, I know! I understand how monotonous it must be to fondle women medically on a regular basis. They're totally desensitized. I get that. But that doesn't mean it still doesn't sting a little, you know? He was looking at my EKG going "Your heart's fluttering" and in my head I was like "MAYBE THAT'S BECAUSE YOU'RE CUPPING MY BOOB YOU MECHANICAL MAN-MUFFIN" lolol.

Hospitals just suck in general. (Once my roomie cut two of her fingers on a meat slicer and had to wait three hours...) At least there were some good points... right? Multiple stabbings suuuuuck. My fear of needles makes me shudder at the thought! You poor thing~ (Being groped? NOT FUN.)

She was talking to another nurse, telling her about a patient she'd had earlier that day. Apparently she told the patient, "Excuse me, sir, can I see your insurance card? I know you can't breathe right now, but I need it."

SO. FUCKED. UP.

I hate getting the needle once (people are always like, "was that so bad" and I am like "yes"), but several times.

Awwwwwwww! I had an experience VERY SIMILAR TO THIS a couple years ago. I had chest pain and could barely breathe and ended up getting taken in an ambulance and got all the tests and... as it turned out, it was just some weird short-lived virus in the sac surrounding the heart? And even before they found that out, I was WOEFULLY IGNORED.

Ah well.

And even before they found that out, I was WOEFULLY IGNORED.
-- It's ridiculous, isn't it? After I told them my symptoms they left me sitting in a chair in some remote cubicle for almost an hour. I could have gone into cardiac arrest right there in triage and they wouldn't even have noticed. There's something seriously wrong with the system when one of the top 100 hospitals in the country pulls shit like that.
