In 'spin' when O'brien is talking to his daughter kathleen he says that he writes/wrote war stories to give perspective and understanding and to help bridge the gap bewtween past and future. In spin as well as in 'note' its says that obrien uses his writing as an outlet for emotion. i found it interesting that notes was written in the 1st person.

Yeah I agree. I dont know but in a way I actually think O'Brien is trying to force himself to beleive something that is maybe a happier thought. I think that by saying, "its okay when people died at war or the dead are still alive in my book, I am Bringing them back to the world," this way he is really making himself beleive that he is at peace and everything is fine. U know?
