Alright, this makes me kinda curious. How much of this is actually harassment and fuckery? And how much of this is "Fox News! Reporting serious business!"?
Apparently the particular invasion that sparked this report originated on either 7chan or 12chan, according to conflicting reports, and neither community is one I am familiar with.
Something tells me they didn't blow up a truck, though.
A good portion of it is actual harassment, especially when it comes to the internet LJ stuff. Towards the answering machine, well, that's only happened around jerks who generally deserve it (read: racists) like Hal Turner.
The "dirty bomb" scare happened when a user put up a threat on 4chan's /b/ to drive trucks armed with C4 and plutonium to 7 named football stadiums around the nation near the end of the NFL regular season. This happened about one or two dozen times over about the same amount of days. Each message remained for at most one hour, because of the high turnover rate of /b/. The FBI started looking into it, and the poster went to his local FBI headquarters and apologized, saying it was all a joke, like a man shouting fire in a theatre. He was arrested on the spot, and awaits trial.
