Death

Death is weird. I mean, I've experienced it before- death and grief. My grandparents died when I was 17 and 19, both deaths were intense in different ways (my grandma got very ill and died a few months later, my grandpa was sudden and unexpected) and were really really hard on me ( Read more... )

I think what makes it even harder is the fact we're abroad. Realizing that someone is gone and won't come back is much harder when we can't see it with our own eyes ( ... )

I don't know if I've ever managed to fully accept someone as really being gone. I still wake up thinking about things I ought to tell virtually every person I've ever known who died, and then I remember that they're dead. I guess for me the difference is the slide away from it hurting and more towards me being a little temporaly challenged.

I really can't believe it either. I'm still struggling with grasping the fact that it's real/true. I didn't feel as close to him, but he was ever-present, and I think now comes the realization that it's so easy to take for granted that kind of presence. Also that it just shouldn't have happened, and I feel like that makes it so much harder to believe.

He will be missed very much. :(
