Hello World 2.0

Wow. It's been a long time since I've updated. I totally want to come back here, ghost town that it is. Facebook is such a shallow bitch and transient too (does that make her a tramp?), that I've had enough off. Slowly cutting back my [almost] entire list of "friends" THERE.

So it's been a weird 16 months. I left my job at Megacorp. They gave me ( Read more... )

I'm trying to get a start as a freelance developer. It's NOT easy, especially having to under-bid at the start in order to gain a reputation. I'm also doing project based work for a friend's outsourcing shop, and bidding by myself on various tenders (via a local online marketplace). For now it's mostly web-stuff PHP, JSP and such. SOAP is fun. I don't grok REST [yet]. SOAP is so much "cleaner" a construct. Hopefully I'll be able to rope in some bigger C++ / Java projects sometime.

yeah, i hear you. it's nice being your own boss once you're well established, but until that time it's really rough. (also, let me know if you're interested in applying to google, i can pass your resume along.)

So after all the back-and-forth you DID get the job with Google!? That's damn cool. "What's it like?"

About two years ago, did a brief phone interview with Google, but it was cut short due to my not wanting to relocate to Mountain View... I actually live about 45 minutes away from Google-Israel. But I hear it's still very much a "Friends Only" sort of club, and I'm pretty much the exact opposite of the "in-guy" definition they would use (not to mention the complete lack of degree). I have NO idea what products/projects Google-Israel handles.

Life has been busy for you. I hope work is better, and that family isn't driving you totally crazy.
