Oh man, we totally won! Actually, correction, we BOSSED our race. We came in first by a ridiculous amount. If you don't do crew/didn't, you can probably stop reading now; more detail follows

Oh, I love the novices too! Except they're hella scared of me. Rob had me cox the Rosie off the trailer, and there were about 20 of them on it, and I said "stern left" and they all just kind of stood there, so I was like, "Left. LEFT." And they all got really nervous. I felt kind of bad.
Congrats to you, too! I hear you guys beat the Varsity!!!
If I were a novice, I'd be scared of a varsity coxswain, too. Except my novice year, my sister was one of the coxswains, and she talked so much shit about Ariel that I'd lost all respect for Ariel.. and Phoebe is half my size almost.
Plus, novices usually aren't very good with stern, bow, port, starboard, left and right, yet. Or with rightie tightie leftie loosie.. or with heads up.. or with up and over heads.. or just with directions in general.
I was terrified of Ariel. So I'm kind of worried that the novices see me that way now. Because I'm not exactly the most patient person ever. But we'll all get along by spring season, right? Right?
I can introduce you to them, and we'll make you the nice, loveable, little scary coxswain you are, Erin! We'll have a party, and then they won't be scared, only... respectfully intimidated by your power and prowess.
It'll be easier when they can follow directions.
It may also be because both of their coxswains come up to like.. my knees... so they might be scared of a coxswain who is actually weight, instead of 30-100 pounds under. They can't trample you if they don't like what you say.
Yeah, well, they take first at every single race they're in. And they're in our league. And we're getting tired of it. So we're going to beat them. Or at least catch up to them. Their glory days are over.

I know! It was terrible. It was probably good, though, or I'd've eaten three every race.
They really did time it perfectly, I guess.
