A Short Glimpse (Oneshot)

May 26, 2010 12:44

Made this because the idea just won't stop bugging me and because I owe my cousin a fluffy(?) KyuMin oneshot to make up for the lack of KyuMin fluffs she has read. Also because she cannot get over the evil which is QMi (don't kill me QMi fans D8)

thanks for reading! A comment would definitely make my day 8DDDDD

You know those times where Jungsoo hyung can’t help but just promote team-bonding?

“We’re only ten now. We’ve got a member in China, a member doing his best in acting and a member who willingly went to the army to amend for his sins. We need to stick together and for that - SUPER BONDING: REFLECTION STYLE!”

Okay, that’s it. Whoever placed happy pills in our leader’s drink must be praying for a slow and peaceful death. It was already one in the morning and everyone staggered down to the eleventh floor because of our leader’s ‘emergency meeting’. Funny how almost everyone looked as tired as I was since we just did a comeback and promotions were everywhere.

Shindong hyung was on the couch, going through his phone probably updating his twitter or something. Hyukjae hyung and Donghae hyung hogged one of the bean bags leaning on each other and trying to sleep, but failing miserably. Jongwoon hyung took the right side of the couch, opposite of Shindong’s position while adjusting to Ryeowook’s weight because the latter was sitting on his lap. Siwon hyung sat in between Shindong and Jongwoon, in his signature cool guy sitting position. Heechul hyung took the solo couch which left Sungmin hyung and I on the floor, leaning on the coffee table.

I heard a scoff and saw Heechul hyung reclining his chair, “You have got to be kidding me.” I grinned upon hearing this. It’s nice to have an opposing force especially when Jungsoo hyung is on a high.

“Heechul, listen. I’m older -”

“By eight days, Jungsoo.”

Ah, the glory that is Kim Heechul.

Our leader silenced him with a menacing glare and I saw Heechul hyung give up in persuading him. Something inside me begged for the dangerous Cinderella to come back, but I guess everyone was tired - except the oldest in the room - to even bother persuading him more.

Jongwoon cleared his throat and said, “So what now?”

I saw a gleam on our leader’s eye that showed him successfully bringing us into submission to whatever he wants done. It looked evil, but who are we to go against it?

Everyone eyed the leader as he struggled to carry something from behind the television set.

“Tadaa!!!”

He showed us what looked like a miniature sized capsule which was dusty and pretty old-looking. The white paint on it was slightly off and there were bent edges.

“Isn’t that what you place aliens in?” Donghae piped up looking extremely interested.

Heechul snorted, “Someone please put him back to sleep. I have had enough of nonsense.” I can’t say I disagree.

“Hyung, what’s that for?” Ryeowook asked pointing at the capsule. “I’ve been living here for so long and I never really paid much attention to it.” True, we’ve always seen that since a week after we have started living here but we thought it belonged to someone else so we never really bothered taking it out.

“This.” Jungsoo started as he passed white slips of paper across the room. Heechul passed me one with a slightly pissed off expression on his face and I mentally threw him a reassuring look. “Is like a time capsule. Write on the slips of paper you have on what you want your future to be like or what you want Super Junior to be like. It does not matter how long or short it is. Just write anything you want.”

Hyukjae held his slip of paper in front of him and smiled, showing his gums. “You mean, the one those people do in the movies when they’re out spending time together?”

The look on our leader’s face was priceless. His motives were blown and he blushed red because of it. Hook, line and sinker.

Cheesiness, our leader’s specialty.

“Ah, hush! Everyone, do it now. Quickly, quickly.” It was that kind of tone where everyone has to follow his order or suffer severe consequences.

Instead of whining more, everyone just took off. Some went to their rooms while others stayed in the living room.

“Once you’re done, just come back here and place it inside the capsule.”

I stared at the piece of paper which I held in between my index and middle finger. What would I be… several years from now?

-

I swore I just heard sobs coming from behind the couch Heechul was sitting on.

It was quarter to two, exactly 45 minutes since our leader decided to make us write on these pieces of paper. The dorm was quiet except for the slight hustle of wind and car sounds coming from outside.

It’s nearing two in the morning and I have yet to write a single word on my slip of paper.

I’ve tried thinking about what I am doing now, which was singing and entertaining, but then I am aware of the fact that I could be not doing that in the near future. The idea of what to do several years from now never really crossed my mind due to the hectic schedules. However, time really does fly fast and here we are now, successful artists at the peak of their popularity.

However, I am also aware of the fact that this would not last long. We’ve had our time so we need to let others get the spotlight.

“Kyu?”

The familiar voice broke me from the trance and I looked up to see my roommate, Sungmin hyung. I situated myself on one of the stool near the kitchen counter and he was right next to me, trying to sit on the other stool.

“H-Hyung..” Ironic how I suddenly stuttered since it was never in my nature to do such. He flashed me a smile and I can’t help but smiling back.

When he successfully sat down, he said, “Just got back from Hyukjae’s room. Apparently, he’s crying now. I left him under the care of Shindong and Donghae.”

I nodded in full understanding, but I failed to comprehend the crying bit. Hyung seemed to notice my confusion and he just shrugged, “You know how Hyukkie is. Too emotional at times. I think writing this triggered some emotion in him.”

It finally dawned unto me what Sungmin was talking about and I looked around. The couch where Heechul hyung sat remained unmoving but I’m sure hyung was still there. Not far away, Siwon sat on the floor, a rosary on hand and his head bent. I could not figure out where Jongwoon hyung and Ryeowook were.

“Have you written anything already?”

He motioned at my piece of paper and I pulled it out of his sight and he just smiled. I turned red in embarrassment and he patted my back. “Sorry. Couldn’t think of anything.” I managed to blurt out and smiled sheepishly. He seemed to just nod while biting back a smile.

“How about you, hyung? What did you write?”

“Aish.. shouldn’t you keep these things personal?”

I just grinned and interestingly stared at his paper. “Come on, hyung! So that I’ll know what to write.”

“Fine.” He finally gave in and I smiled in triumph.

“I imagined myself ten years from now. I want to go to Japan.”

I almost choked on my own spit. “Eh? Why, hyung?” I’ve always known about his ability to speak Japanese and his interest in its culture but imagining him leaving, it’s… unimaginable.

“Don’t ask. You’re the one who wants to hear it anyway. Next is that I will eat lots and lots of sweet pumpkin and get a house full of pink things!”

Being his roommate for years already, I was not at all surprised but my expression gave it away, “You’re kidding right? You’d be 36 by then hyung. Not 16.”

He smacked my arm - out of his martial arts instinct, I guess - and I rubbed the pain away. “Ouch.” I said and he just glared back.

“Well you’re being a bastard.” He went through his list then paused. He looked at me and I stared right back. I saw him flush in embarrassment and the curious side of me took over.

“What was that?”

“N-Nothing.”

“I saw you hyung. That was not ‘nothing’” I managed to reiterate trying to grab his the paper but Sungmin was quicker and he took the piece of paper away and placed it inside his pocket.

“Unfair.” I blurted out and he just gave me a smile which meant that he won.

Straightening his back on the seat, he said, “Well, that’s the gist of what I’ve written. Ten years from now, I expect my loved one to give me the things I want and I’ll be greatly loved.”

Something twisted inside me and the thought of not wanting ten years to fly past me occurred inside my mind and I mentally smacked myself for even thinking about it.

“I don’t feel like thinking about what I want to do ten years from now.” The words flew past my mouth before I could contain them from coming out.

Sungmin just stared at me first out of confusion, but he suddenly smiled once again and wrapped me in his arms. “It’s not the matter of thinking on where you’re gonna be. It’s would depend on where you want to be.” He whispered and no matter how cheesy it sounded, I felt enlightened.

With that, he stood up and walked towards our shared room. “You should seriously finish that already, we’ve got a day full of schedules tomorrow.”

I nodded, giving him an expression filled with gratitude and value towards him. A cough on the other side of the room made me turn and I noticed how Siwon held a sobbing Heechul in his arms.

There were no direct signs and it wasn’t written everywhere, but I saw something that made me look forward to several years from now.

I saw hope.

Hyukjae glanced at the smiling leader in the midst of radio preparations. The dance machine noticed that Jungsoo brought the capsule with him and it irked him how their leader was reading the things they wrote.

“Err.. hyung?” He neared Jungsoo and bent down to look at what he’s smiling at.

“It’s maknae’s entry.” He heard Jungsoo said and just nodded trying to figure out what’s there to smile at. It was short - not even touching to say the least - but Jungsoo still never wiped that smile on his face.

Several years from now, I’ll grow up into an amazing vocalist along with the hyungs. However, I’ll also try to work for a company near a stall selling sweet pumpkins.

END.
