IMO, if a potential customer looked at my corporate website using Safari on his Mac and the layout screwed up, he wouldn't really get the best impression. OTOH, if it were standard compliant, with the links to validators at the bottom of each page, he could make some assumptions about the quality of work that he will get.

Actually there are still some sites that say its intended for IE only.
We track browser stats too for our users who use various browsers and IE is still way high up(97% or so). I dont think companies will abandon IE.
But you are right, people dont understand the need for standards.

i downloaded firefox on the workstation n beegan coding, wen this guy walks upto me n scolds me 4 tamperin with IE settings!
wat settings? baap wen will ppl realise that its fun,easy n less thatn 5MB!

I used IE just once last week after very long time. Before I knew it, tonnes of spyware software got installed and eat up most of my bandwidth. Never had any of these problems with firefox.
So thats what needs to shown to them.
