Spyware Removal

Feb 17, 2005 11:44

I used Internet Explorer once last week and tonnes of spy-ware software got installed.

Is there a proven way of uninstalling them? I tried Norton Antivirus which is able to detect them but unable to uninstall/delete it.

I am telling you from personal experience. I've tried in numerous ways for months together and even lost hair over my fight with spyware. I ultimately accepeted defeat and formatted my main drive.

The best way to remove spyware is to catch it when it is young. If you ever install something suspicious or new, your next step should be a trip to the add/remove control panel. If you have spyware it will most probably show here and can be removed if recent. But once you've left it alone for a few days with constant internet access the plot is lost. It is simply won't go.

Most anti-spam tools do locate the spyware only to find it again on your system when you logged in the next time. The problem is in locating the root of the spyware which I believe constantly keeps changing locations everytime you log in.

If you do find any software or method to remove it then please do tell me!

Simple. :)

Unplug your internet cable/DSL.
Do a clean Windows install.

1) Install Sygate Personal Firewall (ZoneAlarm sucks ass).
2) http://getfirefox.com/ - USE IT !
3) DELETE THAT FUCKING 'e' ICON!

Plugin the cable again.

Do a Windows Upate.

Enjoy life.

OR.

FUCK ALL THAT. INSTALL LINUX!

Spybot
n adaware cleaned most of the junk in office but a few not-so-harmles ones still remain.

Try using adaware. It worked for me a lot.
But sometimes you still have to remove some startup entries.
Try running msconfig.exe (im assuming you are not using win2000) and go to the startup tab.
Remove the entries that you think are related to spyware.
(atleast this makes most of them dormant...so you will have lesser problems :D )
And dont use Internet explorer to go unknows sites. Use Mozila.
(i personally use internet explorer for checking my Yahoo mail).

Hope it helps.
