WTT: sleep for sanity
Ok, I'm giving up a bit of sleep writing this, but it's been driving me absolutely nuts and it needs some venting. Warning: technical vent incoming...
My sound card has been freezing my computer for the last 4 months. It sucks. I've spent more than a number of nights narrowing down the problem and being patient with tech support. They are finally RMA'ing the thing. Never mind that I get to pick up the tab on shipping. Never mind that they reserve the right to send my card back if they don't think there is anything wrong with it. Never mind that they pretty much only asked me to uninstall the drivers a couple times before they concluded that I should send it in. Whatever. Fine. I'll pay 10 bucks for shipping and wait 2 weeks. Better than my computer freezing randomly. I'll just use my built-in sound for a while, right?

The piece of fucking shit built-in sound is also not working. The damn thing won't enable properly or something such that the drivers won't install. Ever. Piece of junk. Tried every trick I knew and nothing. Only thing left is to format the thing and hope for the best. Except not. Because it isn't worth formatting the machine for 2 weeks of sound. I'll just use my laptop for a while. Or maybe I'll just stare at my computer slightly differently and it will magically work. THIS is why I hate sound cards. NO ONE can do it right and they all fucking suck. What was supposed to be a 30 minute easy operation ended up taking 3 hours and it still doesn't work. Wonderful. And the broken one isn't even out the door yet. Gah.
Maybe I'll try again when I'm less sleep deprived and annoyed.
